bugger think me oil cooler has expired !!!

think me oil cooler has given up got brown gunge coming out the header tank when running and oil lack on mid !!  :( :(  is there any way to check other than strip it all out ?? motor runs perfect and sweet !! coolant is pressureised and weeping out of filler cap tia mark :-/

Do not even think about starting car until fixed.

Sounds classic oil cooler.

Any sign of water in oil?

no not really any water in oil tb !! just done rocker gaskets and breathers and flushed coolant out was going to change coolant and put antifreeze in tomorrow but guess ill be stripping her down and taking oil cooler out !!!!!  >:( >:(

Make sure you order the right part code......the individual bits are pricey...

93176626 (i believe) and its about £100 inclusive of vat - thats the main part thers a few other bts and pieces as well.......let me see if i can find them

93176626 at £81+vat retail.....includes the cooler, plate, new nuts and seals.....

You also need the grey sealent (cant find the part number for this)
4 off oil cooler pipe to cooler seals 11076852 at 81p+vat each
4 off coolant bridge seal rings at 12992647 at £1.39+vat each

Plus antifreeze, oil, filter and some water soluable degreaser to flush the system with.

Sorry I can't help with any advice, mine packed-up while still under warranty so Vx fitted a new one FOC - no idea fo costs or P/Ns...

The early oil coolers (like the first pics) have aluminium inlet and outlet bosses, the steel 'banjo' bolts can seize in these and strip the threads when you try to remove the oil pipes. This isnt a real problem as you need a new cooler but make absolutely sure that there is no aluminium stuck to the bolt threads before screwing into the new cooler.
The later cooler (last pic) may have bosses made from different material but I didnt want to take a file to my brand-new cooler to find out.
Oh, dont bend the oil cooler pipes, remove the oil filter housing and unbolt the pipes from the block to get enough movement to get the cooler out.

Agree absolutely. I bent them, what a mistake!
