Why was he driving on the hard shoulder :-\

Because that's what hard shoulders are for these days. I take it you don't have "managed" motorways in your neck of the woods? Lucky you!

We do. But the M20 isn't  yet one of them.

Looking at the photos again, and applying some local knowledge, that footbridge was lower on that side. Not as low as it now though!
So I suspect that there have been a number of intense phonecalls to Hoo.

My money is on the artic in lane one hitting it as the Crane clearly shows no damage... Had it hit the bridge there would probably be a scratch or two visible ::)

, A 3.9m high fridge box didn't, which is in lane1

Go on, il'll ask the question.

Why on earth is it taking so long to get the motorway reopened ? Probably had to go out to tender, three quotes, decision maker is on holiday.......

If they get it open today, then I would say that is a sterling effort.

Probably need to relay the surface, big cranes and machinery tend to leave an impression

Demolishing the remainder of the bridge probably took 10 minutes, but I expect a committee of engineers took all night to decide how to bring it down all elf n safety like.  ;D

They didn't need much machinary, the digger and dumber was already on site, just needed a pecker attachment, and a nibbler, couple of tippers, all be gone in a night.
Engineer's make everything take longer, nearly as bad as manager's.

So, no damage to cab of truck on hard shoulder, yet the cab of the artic in lane one is partially crushed  ::) also digger is behind the bridge line...
