Omega General Help / Rear suspension arm
« on: 13 April 2016, 11:27:49 »
Has anyone fitted a new rear suspension arm before? Is it a difficult job? How long does it take? Is it a mechanic only job or could a novice do it?

Helfrauds said my miggy needs this doing for the MOT.

Many thanks for any advice. :y :-* :-* :-*

General Car Chat / Welding
« on: 08 April 2016, 19:39:49 »
I've discovered a hole in the sill of my miggy. :(

Does anyone know how much a garage would be likely to charge to repair it by welding a new piece of steel in? I would estimate that the piece would be about 6cm by 4cm. I realise that garage charges vary a lot just an estimate would be helpful.

Many thanks. :y

Omega General Help / Brake pipe replacement
« on: 01 April 2016, 10:02:33 »
Hi all.

I need to replace my rear brake pipes for the MOT. Is this a job I could do myself? I'm trying to learn more about car repair so I'd like to have a go.

Are there any special tools I need?

I'd really appreciate any advice. :y

Many thanks. :y

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / WANTED: Set of Headlights
« on: 31 March 2016, 18:59:37 »
Hi guys. :)

I need a set of headlights asap to get my miggy through her MOT. Has anyone got a set I could buy?

She's a FL I think. Made in 2000 anyway, the one with the proper bumper. Sorry I never know which is which. Well she's been to the plastic surgeon and had a facelift. ;D

Thanks very much! :-*

Omega General Help / Thermostat and Water Pump on a 2.5 Diesel
« on: 19 March 2016, 17:12:03 »
Hi all. :y

Sorry to be a nuisance with all my questions. I know I'm a pest. ;D

I'm going to have a go at changing the thermostat and water pump on my overheating diesel. I've read the guide for the water pump but I can't find a guide for the thermostat. Is there a Haynes manual that would cover this job? I've looked at lots of manuals for sale online but none seem to cover the 2.5 diesel engine.

Thanks for all the help! :y

Omega General Help / Head gasket
« on: 17 March 2016, 20:55:38 »
I got a mobile mechanic in today and he said that the head gasket had gone.

Are there any oofers who can fix it? I can't take it to the garage obviously. I'd have a go myself but I'm not very competent with mechanicals. :)

Omega General Help / Engine overheating
« on: 13 March 2016, 18:57:03 »
My 2.5 diesel is overheating and eml is flashing occasionally. When this happens there is a loss of power.

When I first collected the car the temp gauge showed that normal engine temp wasn't being reached. Could this be a sticky thermostat?

Thanks for any advice :y

Omega General Help / MOT work
« on: 09 March 2016, 21:13:33 »
Hi all.

Got my new Omega yesterday and took it for its MOT. It failed on a few things but I'm not sure what parts I need to buy to get it sorted. Here are the ones I'm confused with:

004 Anto roll bar linkage has excessive play in a pin/bush offside front
005 Suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint nearside rear (track control arm)

Can anyone help please? :y

General Discussion Area / Home Wine Making
« on: 13 October 2015, 02:07:17 »
As wine is so expensive I thought I would share my experiences of home wine making.

All you need is a couple of food grade buckets, a spoon, a grommet a siphon tube and an air lock.

You can make thirty bottles of excellent quality wine in seven (yes seven (7)) days.

This is the kit I use:

You can get everything you need on eBay.

Good luck. :y

General Discussion Area / Plastic Sheds
« on: 07 October 2015, 13:04:33 »
Hi all.

I'm thinking about selling my plastic shed to make some extra space in my garden. It's really big (11ft by 8ft) and I just tend to hoard stuff in it.

Does anyone have any experience of dismantling this type of shed? Is it difficult?

I've dismantled a wooden shed before but wouldn't have a clue where to start on a plastic one.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks. :y

General Discussion Area / Dog needs a home. Can you help?
« on: 26 September 2015, 22:44:35 »
Hi all.

My friends mum just died and she has inherited her dog. Unfortunately my friend has cats & Woozie the dog hates cats so total chaos. He is the most wonderful & loving dog & my friend is really upset to have to let him go.  She has tried to train him but nothing has worked as he really does not like cats. He would suit a family without small children, as he is not used to them.

If anyone could offer him a home or anyone that is looking for a dog please let me know.

Many thanks. :y

General Discussion Area / Car Insurance Cancellation Fees
« on: 29 August 2015, 16:56:36 »
Just wondering whether anyone can help?

I've sold my Omega but hope to get another one in the near future. My insurance is £39 a month but I'm worried about cancellation fees as I've had the policy less than 3 months. In the paperwork it says I would get a 50% refund on the premium.

I've paid 2 payments so I'm guessing I would have to pay at least another 2 payments plus the cancellation fee?

What should I do? :-\
