Cars for Sale & wanted / F/S 2000 Omega 2.5 CD Estate
« on: 23 August 2015, 21:22:52 »
It is with much regret that I am having to sell my Omega. She needs a few jobs doing but I just don't have the money at the moment. My daughter lives 88 miles away too so I'm going to have to get a small car or a diesel for a while. She has alloy wheels now

Good points:

  • Good engine and gearbox
  • Tested until March next year
  • Only 107000 miles
  • Interior is good

Bad points:

  • Would benefit from a new radiator but it's not leaking now
  • Front tyres are wearing on the inner edge
  • Needs new front brake pads
  • The cam cover gaskets will need doing in the future

I'm asking £450. I'll put some more recent photos on soon.

Omega General Help / Tyre wear
« on: 17 August 2015, 21:35:45 »
Hi all.

My front tyres are wearing really badly along the inner edge. It's so bad that I think it might ruin the tyres completely if I don't get it sorted.

Is this due to wheel balancing or tracking or something like that?

Where should I get this fixed? Is it expensive?

I found this picture on the Internet which shows a tyre with the same problem.

TIA.

Omega General Help / Omega losing power
« on: 09 August 2015, 17:56:02 »
Hi all.

My Omega has been losing power as if running out of petrol, then after a couple of seconds the power comes back.

I have a coolant leak and have to keep topping it up. I'm not sure if the two problems are related.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance. :y

General Discussion Area / Been having problems
« on: 19 July 2015, 23:16:03 »
Hi all.

I've been having problems with my housemate so I need to move out and find a room to rent. I can go anywhere in the UK.

Where do you think would be best to go to?

I'm on a tight budget so I'm looking for the cheapest places in the country really.

Thanks for any advice. :y

General Discussion Area / Car Insurance

I recently took out a policy with LV for myself and my daughter. I have just received a letter from them stating that they need to see our driving licences and the V5 for the car.

Has anyone else ever been asked to show these when buying car insurance?

Has the law changed?

I only ever used to show proof of NCD.

General Discussion Area / Dog training
« on: 15 June 2015, 19:03:42 »
Hi all.

I have given an old dog a home but it keeps chasing my cats. I was thinking about getting one of those remote collars to aid training. Has anyone got any experience of these collars?

The dog looks like a wheaten terrier crossed with a basset. He is 9 years old.

Thanks for any advice. :y

« on: 06 June 2015, 18:11:24 »
Hi all.

My computer is running badly so I was going to re-install Windows 7 but my disc is damaged. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement?

Or can I borrow a copy from anyone?

TIA. :y

Hi all.

Would anyone like to be a beta reader?

I've found it impossible to get a job so I've started doing some writing to see if I can make some money out of it eventually. I was hoping to write a book for Kindle.

Would anyone be interested in reading some of it and giving me feedback?

I don't have any writing talent whatsoever but I've got nothing to lose.

My first bit of writing is about a woman who feels so guilty about killing her friend's husband that she plans to commit suicide. The problem is that she is too scared to do it.

It's complete fiction by the way.

Let me know if you are interested. I don't mind you telling me its complete rubbish.

Thanks. :y

Hi all.

Just sold my daughters Mini yesterday as all she did was moan about it. She kept ringing and saying it wouldn't go in reverse. ::)

Serek said it was fine and I drove it and it was fine. I sold it for her yesterday as she was 'doin' me 'ead in'. :o

Does anyone know of any small reliable cars for sale? It has to be 100% reliable and easy to drive or I'll get moaned at (a lot).

Thanks very much. :y

General Discussion Area / Electrical question
« on: 05 May 2015, 18:48:09 »
Hi all.

I've just bought a used range cooker off gumtree. It's dual fuel - gas and electric.

Should I use 10mm twin and earth to wire it or would 6mm be better?

It's a Stoves Newhome DFDL I think, with 2 ovens and a grill. The hobs are gas.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :y

Thanks.

Omega General Help / Help Request
« on: 21 April 2015, 11:39:06 »
Hi guys.

Is there anyone around who could fit an alternator for me?

I can't afford to take my miggy to the garage as they want £343 for the job.

I'm a bit stuck as I bought some furniture off eBay for my new house and I can't collect it.

Can anyone help a damsel in distress?

Thanks very much. :y

Omega General Help / Had to call the AA twice today
« on: 16 April 2015, 14:57:22 »
Hi all.

Went to take some rubbish to the tip today and my miggy wouldn't start. :'(

The battery was flat so the AA man charged it up. He put some petrol in it too just in case, as the petrol light was on. He tested the battery and it was fine.

Got to the tip and get of the rubbish. Miggy wouldn't start again.

The second AA man thought it might be the alternator or the wiring.

What should I do?

TIA. :y

Omega General Help / Alloy wheels
« on: 15 April 2015, 22:57:38 »
Hi all.

I've bought some elite alloys to replace the steel wheels on my 2000 estate.

Will I need new wheel bolts or will the existing ones do? The garage in my street advised me to find out.

TIA. :y
