Title: M32 Gearbox Repair
Post by: dad1uk on 28 July 2020, 23:52:21
I have a 2007 2.2 Zafira B with the infamous M32 Gearbox.
Gears 1,2,5 and 6 all seem okay but gears 3 and 4 are noisy.
I believe it is usually 5 and 6 that cause trouble.
Anyone repair these or know someone reliable who will repair it?
I'm located in Birmingham but would travel.....

The two I know of are in Scotland and far south (wgmotorworks - they do a drive in drive out fixed price service), there was also an outfit in Sheffield but, you would have to get your box to them

Thanks Mark, it was a drive in/out service I was looking for. The guy in Edinburgh seems to be king but it's a long haul and the other company I found was in Kent. There are so many horror stories of cowboys making things worse.....
Just checked the one you mentioned and it is the same one I had seen....

I would say the team in Kent were the better, they clearly recognise that the later end plate solves a lot of issues and offer it as an upgrade

My brother used a guy close to him (Newbury) and has been happy AFAIK. I can ask if you like?

Thanks Kevin, I would be interested, especially on the price. I don't think I can justify the new end case so it will just be bearing replacement, which I believe they do without removing the box....
I can get the bearings done for £499 or the new End Case for £960.

He got it done by a company called Tadley Transmissions and it came to  £520 apparently. Very happy with the work so far.

Both jobs are done with the box in the car (as the end plate has to come off to do the bearings)  :y

Thanks for your advice gents, I think I will be going to the guys in Kent because I have had several others recommend them.
Due to finances I think it will only be the bearing option and hope I don't live to regret it  8)
