I've been thinking about this and I'll kick the ball rolling by trying to summarise the advice on the forum (mainly thinking about engine performance, as that's closest to my heart) into a single post. People will be better placed to add other areas - suspension, transmission, tyres, etc.

If it's there as a sticky it will perhaps stop the same questions being asked ad-nauseum.

only i have a real hatred of stickies  :P

i reckon the faq section may be best place  :-/

Good point. I meant available and easy to come across. Some forums I visit have a page of "stickies" to scroll through before you reach anything interesting >:(

For what it's worth I think there are several topics that come up ad nauseum here, with the same answer being given every time, and this is one of them. Maybe people would look in the FAQ section and find the answer before posting. Maybe not. :-/

www.acmerubbercrankshafts.com guaranteed to increase the compression ratio as the revs build up

Now, if they could be convinced to do a rubber block that self heals after you've thrown a connecting rod through the side of it during a period of "red mist" I know a few people who'd be interested.

OK. Thought so. It's a fair cop. Serves me right for mentioning the idea after all.

Was that a question or a statement of intent?

IMHO, an FAQ entry listing the performance mods that are worthwhile and those that aren't might not be a bad idea. The question seems to be asked frequently enough. Agreed not enough material available for a dedicated section.

I wouldn't say the MV6 is rock hard. Yes, you do feel the bumps a little more through the suspension but it's not like a stiffly-sprung small FWD car by any means.

It's also nicely taut through corners without too much roll. I'd say, on a smooth road, you'd barely notice a difference but on a poor road surface you'll feel a few more jolts. It won't rattle your fillings loose on any surface.

Thats the ones 2nd & 3rd, but I already bought one of those and they're not megamoss

Been there too. Got fed up with asking sellers which one it is. 26 quid for the remote doesn't sound too bad to me. Already have a spare key so maybe I'll go down that route if they'll sell one without a Tech 2 ripoff to pair it. ;D

I am known at work for commuting in the Westie when it's 'kin cold, chiefly because it's in the garage and I can't be @rsed to scrape frost off the Omega. Not sure about tomorrow though. Snow is a bit scary. :-/

So they gave it back without even topping up the coolant on a suspected HGF?

Makes me wonder if they did that deliberately so it would break properly... Or because they didn't lift the bonnet?

The link crossed with my post. I am glad to see for once the legal system saw common sense and good on him for standing up for himself. Not sure I'd have the courage.

A neighbours new year has also got off to a great start - they've been burgled! >:( We all had a note through the door from the police asking if anyone had seen anything untoward.

This happened to my half/2nd uncle a while back, well 12 years to the day to be exact.  He came home on new years eve and caught the guy at it in the living room!  anyway one thing led to another and Mr burglar ended up being carried out in a body bag!  How about that?  :o

.. and I bet your uncle has been eating Porridge ever since for daring to protect his own property?

I agree, 27mpg out of a 3.2 is ambitious.  This time of year, I'm only getting 23mpg. Bloody great fun though - I'd forgotten how much fun it can be with the TC off  :-X

Was being a good boy today and thought I'd get home with an average over 30 on the MID. Then a road was closed and I was "forced" to cane it along a few deserted back roads rather than plod along a "B" road at 50. Back to 24 MPG then. Such is life. ;)

but I can easily get 27 mpg on a standard 3.2....

Indeed you can, but only if you never use any of the extra power anyway and don't venture into towns. Even then, I think this time of year you'd struggle to average 27 except on 100% motorways and main roads.

... and of course it would be silly to contemplate sorting out the lifters without a set of 3.0 cams to go in afterwards, wouldn't it?
