Title: Parrot Q
Post by: 05omegav6 on 24 January 2014, 17:59:27
Been thinking... ::)

Car has a CD400 fitted.

Having a plug and play DAB module fitted which intercepts the loom between the car and HU.
If I get a Parrot kit, MK9100 iirc, this requires an SOT lead to connect to the car loom.
Two questions:
1. Presumably it will need to be fitted between the car loom and the DAB unit to work properly?

2. Will this cause any operational issues?

IIRC, the 3100 has two outputs, one being a speaker level that would be used to switch through a vehicles existing speaker. The other is a line level output - have used these to feed into the input of a CCRT700, "selected" via the mute connection .......

Not sure of the difference between the Parrot 9100 and 9200 that I have fitted.

Using just the SOT leads I've fitted this to a veccy c with full canbus and BOSE set up with no issues and now my 03 mig elite with no issues. :y

DAB is plug and play with SOT leads to radio. Parrot is plug and play as well, again with SOT leads.

The question is...

Can I daisy chain the Parrot to the DAB module to the HU without causing a problem?

Parrot would have to be closest to the speakers

Assuming both units drive the speakers themselves

If both are feeding in to aux it (cd400 has a decent aux in iirc), then you are going to have fun and games.

There is a bluetooth personality for that car that works quite well. Not sure how easy to retrofit, as GM make retrofits a pig

Any idea of the parts required :-\

Sorry, no. I believe its just a simple module, but then has to be programmed into the car by GM (as per all Astra-J/Insignia options).

I have used an Insignia with Bluetooth module with my old gayPhone 3GS, and it worked really well. Not tried against a gayPhone 5/Siri enabled one, but can do, as its the Insignia I took to France in 2012, and the chap still has the car :)

Sorry, confuddled you with someone else, I know you're an Android boy. Sony Ericsson IIRC?

A lot of these vehicle kits can be a bit fussy with phone device type, esp for voice dialling and contact syncing. No idea how the Insigina BT module copes with various Andriod devices, as its owner uses a gayPhone as well.

Yup, little green robot, me ;D

Will ask sis in law, think she had Bluetooth in her last Astra J  :-\

Further digging has suggested using a Parrot CK3000 Evolution with Parrot Multican, allowing total phone control using car controls alone, and binning the CK3000 controller, but not sure how upto date the Parrot site is, as the compatibility list is quite short when it comes to the Xperia Z1... :-\

And all because I went to collect a Crank Sensor ::)

break all compatibility info Insignia Vs. Multican >:( so have a suitable SOT lead and a MKi9200 on their way along with a canbus interface to drive the taxi meter...

Just need to figure out how to pull the dash apart now ::)

A word of warning about the Parrot leads which switch the speakers between the Parrot audio and the radio. They use poor quality relays which tarnish after a couple of years. Caused me considerable probs with SWMBOs car once. Had intermittent distortion from one speaker, swapped the speakers over the the front doors & the problem stayed with the same door. Then changed the head unit and the problem was still there  :'(. Turned out to be the Parrot changeover cable with a relay in it.

So, you have been warned  >:(

Could well have a similar problem if it switches the speakers ...........

Certainly no relays in the loom :-\

Hopefully straight in to the Aux in, which is where phones should go (and all post 98 Omegas have a phone capable Aux in, unless the system includes a phone).

Parrott's stupid speaker switching is a nasty bodge thats best avoided.
