Title: Might have to replace the beast
Post by: 05omegav6 on 09 March 2011, 20:29:41
Just been reversed into by a b**t in a Ford Kuga.  >:( >:( >:(

On the face of it, not a big deal, just the bumper, crash bar and bonnet.

But, the taxi plate runs out on 2/4/11. If the car isn't ready to go, then it will fail its' annual inspection and is too old to get re plated. Once the plate lapses, it has to be less that five years old to become a taxi. How pi**ed off am I. >:( >:( >:(

Thanks all.

Need to speak to insurers first thing, (why does shat like this always happen just after places close?). I know the car is perfectly repairable, the nuts and bolts of it will take about an hour including aligning the bumper and bonnet. It's just ... AAARGH!!! really annoying to have to be doing it in the first place. >:(

I do tend to be a bit pessimistic about such things ::), but then I find that I'm usually pleasantly surprised when stuff works out. A three week time limit makes for quite a large rabbit from quite a small hat... :-/

Today could have gone a lot worse.

By 9.30, I'd spoken to both insurers and my Licensing officer. :-/

By 10.30, third party had admitted liability, and been authorised to get estimate. :)

By 11.30, estimate carried out at local vx garage. :)

By 12.30 estimate recieved and forwarded to third party. :)

17.15 call from garage to say estimate accepted and parts on order. Should be going in middle of next week and back on Friday. 8-)

Booked in for inspection on Monday, so hopefully that'll be as painless as the MoT was :-/
Then back to the council on the following Monday followed by another year at work. ::)

Will reserve final judgement until the dust has settled, but no complaints thus far.

Got the car back today, and straight down to the council. Result, plated for another year with 6 days to spare.  :) :) :) 8-)

Talk about cutting it fine, but can at least relax... engine permitting. :-/ :-X

Mondeo diesel autos good for 29mpg and not much else.  >:(

Just glad to be back in the mig, lumpy engine not withstanding, and it is now very shiny. 8-)
