Omega General Help / HID right side not working
« on: 01 December 2016, 20:58:48 »
:-[ The right hand side HID headlight is not working. The inside of the glass has misted up with water, this happened around two weeks ago. The light was working up-to 2 days ago. Just before it stopped working it was giving off a light blue colour. I've checked the fuse and it's ok. I suspect the dampness inside the light has caused problems with the bulb. Has anyone had similar problems and if so how were they overcome?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Zenon headlight will not adjust.
« on: 16 December 2014, 23:55:43 »
I have a Sept 2000 reg 2.2 petrol Omega with zenon HID headlights. I can't get the right hand headlight to adjust up enough for the beam to not to hit the ground just in front of the car. I've replaced the plastic adjusters for the aluminium ones but still unable to adjust it up enough. I had it at my local Opel dealers and they could not adjust it. I also get the message periodically "Low field of vision" and then it clears. Any help would be appreciated :y.

I'm wanting to know what fuse number and where it's located for the right hand headlight on a 2.2 auto Omega registered Sept 2000 as it's not working on dip. It's a zeon headlight. Had this problem 4 yrs ago but can't remember where the fuse is. :-[

Omega General Help / Low field of vision
« on: 26 January 2014, 17:05:36 »
Low field of vision comes up on the mid intermittently. The message will then clear for a short while and then return. This may happen 2 or 3 times in the same 1/2hr journey. When I turn the ignition on I can hear the self leveling motors working. Is this just an erroneous fault message or is there a real fault and if so what is it and what's the solution?

Omega General Help / Paintwork revival
« on: 17 October 2013, 16:18:36 »
I have an Omega Elegance which is the Opel equivalent of the Vauxhall omega cdx. I'm wanting to revive the paintwork, would T-cut be the best or is there a better product? I will of course wax it after doing the paint revival bit.

Been down with flue since I made the post. The problem with the headlights is that the adjusters are broken, so I thought I would needs to get replacement lights. I thought I saw some that were available on the forum around 18 months ago. I'm also aware that there were aluminum adjusters available but I can't get any response from the email address I have which is gad74@talktalk.net. Any help would be useful as the car needs to have it's mot 20th November.

Omega General Help / Cylinder head gasket
« on: 04 December 2012, 23:27:38 »
The head gasket has gone on my 2.2 petrol Omega registered in Sept 2000. What sort of cost would it be to get it fixed by a none Opel garage? I've been quoted £480. Is this realistic?

Omega General Help / Engine swap
« on: 01 October 2012, 12:52:04 »
Is it possible to fit a Rover sterling 1995 2.7 auto petrol engine (made by Honda) into a face lift Opel Omega 2.2 petrol auto and if so would it be necessary to swap the auto box as well? The reason I ask is that the Honda engine is perfectly good and the one in the Omega has died but the body work is in very good order. ???

Omega General Help / Re: Cylinder head gasket

Could I just play the devils advocate for a minute. Am I being advised to repair it because the advice is being given by Omega lovers? If the head is taken off what else is likely to be found? One thing I didn't say was that the car was used as a taxi for a couple of years. Which is why the auto box went at 120k and the head gasket is now giving trouble. I don't know what else may have been affected by it's use as a taxi. As I've said I need a reliable car as I do 24k a year on business. I love the old girl but will a 2.2 engine be up to it.

Don't know if they did a compression test. What else could it be given the symptoms. Misfire on start up, loosing water and no visible leak, brown spark plug and a reflection from the suspected piston top. I would be very happy if it was something more simple. :(
