Omega 2.5TD Glow Plugs
« on: 27 April 2014, 19:49:02 »

Hi Guys

Can anyone clue me up, I'm going to stick some new glow plugs in my Omega, all the plugs are out of the car at the moment and I've done a voltage check between the end of the wires where it connects onto each glow plug and I'm getting a reading of just over 12 volts for each of them, the connection last for 16 seconds and then cuts off.

Question: Is this normal or should it remain on for longer if the engine is cold.

I'm comparing it with an Isuzu Trooper and they glow for up to 3 minutes if the engine is cold and is so specified in the workshop manual.

Thanks for your help

Hi Guys

I'm not on my own am I, nobody out there ever performed a test to see how long the glow plugs stay on for on a cold engine.

I'm assuming there must be something on the car that decides when to turn them off, any ideas?
I'm fitting new plugs, just want to make sure every thing else is in order.
