Replied to your pm Chris regarding my (negative) thoughts about the original hard plastic VX mudflaps....

i have seen a few on ebay that say they will fit but need to compare them to omega items for how thry look. so you are saying forget originals and go for flexible rubber aftermarket type.
that sounds a good idea. thanks. mr.dog

Flexible ones will rub more than rigid ones and will also suffer from fatigue failure more quickly. A bead of silicone type product on the fitting surface will prevent most of the perceived issues of rigid mudflaps.  ;)

Quick question, what perceived issues?

They don't fit very well once they've been dragged along the ground a few times.

If they ever fitted well ;D

Having them trap dirt and rub through the paint. Not dissimilar to the flexible ones, but without the splitting.

As I described in my pm Chris, the original hard plastic mudflaps, although correctly profiled for the Omega, have very little give in them, and I used to catch the fronts on the ground over speed humps, and also when negotiating corners, and ups and downs on undulating roads. When this happens, it puts pressure on the sill covers, ultimately resulting either damage or at best severe paint damage to the sill covers and the bottom wing section. Their position is dictated by their profile and is virtually non adjustable. Needless to say I have removed them from all but one Omega, butvthe abrasion marks in the paint still remain. Rubber mudflaps are a little more flexible and possibly more forgiving if they contact the road surface / speed humps etc.
I personally would avoid the originals if another suitable alternative is available.

ordered two different styles that look similar to the originals and should be trimmable to make fit. car is going in for some paintwork in jan so will play with them when i get it back .

hi. slight update on this.
found some universal ones on ebay which are flexible and smaller than the original design so fit the front well.
recently found a seller with a pair of original gm rears .brand new so ordered those. however when they came they were actually ....one rear drivers side and one front drivers side !   bugger ..
so i have a brand new front if anyone needs one and im looking for a new or near perfect rear passenger side if anyone has one, shouldnt be any issues with using the gm ones on the rear but have taken note about using them on the front .cheers.
