As someone on this forum recently said, if you own an Omega you will at sometime experience a vagueness with the steering and a strange sensation of tramlining (following gooves in the road).
As The Boy said there are a standard list of things to check.
I'd say top of the list is wishbone bushes. Sometimes not that obvious to spot either. On mine I think one front one has gone a bit soft (some kind of tear I can't see) and one rear has torn a bit but I can see that when the car is jacked up.
The result is that the front wheels can wander a little (but you can't feel play when you jack up the roadwheel and pull it about).
Shot wishbone bushes can cause a pull to the left or right, a wobble when braking. They also tend to result in wear on the inner edge of the front tyres as the wheels splay out a little under forward motion.
About a zillion wishbone suppliers on Ebay (which to me suggests how common the problem is). Prices start at about £18 each. The genuine Vx price is £180 each. I'd suggest trying a reputable make, my last set were cheap but only lasted 8,000 miles. Having said that I've just ordered some cheap ones again, but these are QH.
