Vauxhall Meriva 1.7cdti
« on: 12 November 2012, 15:19:24 »

Hi all, looking in the near future to replace SWMBO's Focus, just wondering what the consensus is on the Meriva? Never driven one myself, but the wife quite fancies one, possibly the CDTI. Seem like a watered down Zafira?? Anyone any thoughts?

Not a bad motor, Corsa on Steroids (so Corsa construction)

No major faults

I know the 1.4 petrol struggles to keep up with traffic, but would assume the 1.7CDTi would have bags of torque.

Quite tiring on a run (1.4 petrol, again), more than the Focus. Again, the engine probably had a lot to do with that.

Agree with the comments re 1.4 petrol, needs to be driven hard but OK once up to speed.
The Meriva and Zafira are cars you need to try before buying, there are huge blind spots at the front due to the screen pillars, some people can compensate for this easily and others never get the hang of watching for traffic when entering roundabouts etc. Still prefer them to the Renault Scenic & Espace which have a really odd driving position.
