Performance upgrades 3.2
« on: 12 February 2012, 19:06:32 »

I've just bought this 3.2 omega elite,  ;D  got some standard shocks, not self leveling, and minus 40 mm springs on the way. so that is the suspension sorted out, I've been looking all over this forum and can't seem to find any engine modes that are worth doing.

Does anyone have any ideas or experiences in moding  3.2 2002 omega?
I wanna get about 270 b.h.p. and can't find any twin exist exhaust system (so there is one pipe on each side ). is it possible to remove silencer boxes and cats from underneath without getting EM lights and retarding performance? This should give me 15 horses.

Also, is there a way I can find out the code for my siemens 2015 color sat nav system? just in case my battery fails.

thanks guys

Not really many options available TBH, certainly not normally aspirated. You'll only get 270bhp with either forced induction, or if the dyno lies badly.

Code not required for NCDC, you can disconnect to your hearts content.

What is a maf housing?  I have been reading about the electronic supercharger.  Gives 10 - 15 break.  I wonder if That could be noticed?

You mean N2O or nitrous oxide. Or if you're some baseball capped chav, 'NOSS', from the manufacturer's(Nitrous Oxide Systems) sticker on the bottle.
Nox is one of the emissions.

I'll get off my highhorse now!

So i hear that this can be injected into your air intake as to avoid a complex procedure of direct port injection.  The only problem is tha the gas runs out too quick, yes.  And is it expensive?

and can someone tell me what the maf housing is and why and how much gains?

Check the gallery section for the pics of his car...  There in there somewhere

You've chosen the wrong car if you want to get a 30% increase in power.

If you want 270bhp+, buy something else.

Ignore the MAF bit, not much you can do there to increase performance.

Decatting will piss off the ECU, but doable. Obviously, it'll fail the new MOTs. It would be interesting to see what a straight decat would do on a modern(ish) engine designed for cats.

TBH, a good service, done regularly, would be the best start, could return a good 10% back.

As I said earlier, non-forced induction, you are not going to increase it much. If you want more power from engine, no point cocking about, drop an LS1 in.

To increase performance of the car, which is pretty heavy, weight might be worth looking at.

What is an LS1 guys? :-\
How many silencer boxes per side in exhaust system?
So there is not a way of putting the cat sensor in the exhaust after / before the cat should be to keep EML off?

I can always put the cats back in before MOT.
And about the wrong car, I disagree.  With the equipment, features, quality vs cost of the omega, I think it was the right car.  It's like anything, one doesn't really want a run of the mill, standard production line car.  People like to add their own uniqueness to it.  Well I do anyay.  I love the lines, the shape, the sound, the price, the size, the rear wheel(ness) of the omega and would be very pleased to make it as unique as poss.  Reg's dont bother me either.  As long as it runs the way I want, I have the style to style it timelessly.  Making something like our cars better handling and more powerfull is a rewarding challenge, yes?

I think that that might have severe drinking problems.  How does changing the gear ratios of 1st and second gear to get a bit more acceleration, leaving the others for the cruising when you get to the speed you want by easing off and the auto box cruising?

My LS-1 car is more economical than my 2.6 manual.

Quite a bit more, to boot.

Ok sounds good.  How much brake do you got?  How much was the engine?  What did installing it entail?

I actually have two at the moment.....

A 2000 MY (VT2) Commodore SS in black. 374BHP LS-1 power. Getting sold soon. And,

a 2000 MY (VT2) Commodore Clubsport R8, which is the same car but with bodykit, brakes and better handling. Currently standard engine, so a weedy 340BHP, but have plans.....

similar to......

http://www.google.com/imgres?q=2000+clubsport+R8&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2009-35,GGLG:en&biw=1600&bih=1006&tbm=isch&tbnid=q0bjehezTaMTLM:&imgrefurl=http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/hsv-clubsport-2000-10950565&docid=8OcMnP_259vlVM&imgurl=http://liveimages.carsales.com.au/carsales/car/private/8762106.jpg&w=555&h=416&ei=7U0-T-r3PIWFhQex_sixBQ&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=203&sig=116612838888856465416&page=1&tbnh=149&tbnw=202&start=0&ndsp=32&ved=0CJkBEK0DMBM&tx=102&ty=81

on a run, these do low 30's to the gallon. in comparison to my 2.6 manual which would do 27 on the same trip.
