The problem a lot of people have when Appling sealent is they use to much, a fine bead about 0.5mm or less is fine,lots of peppes think they are sealing a bath,hence big lumps and ozzings every were.

Someone had used some kind of silicon sealant on the sump of SWMBO Smart. Where it had oozed through on the inside of the sump, it'd become very soft, broke away & partialy blocked the oil pump filter. The last tube of grey sealant I bought from Vaux (for said Smart sump) was around £9/£10 IIRC Easier to buy the right one IMHO

I had this problem on some cam cover gaskets i've recently done and removing the sump to check the oil pick up was a recommendation to the owner as soon as possible ::)

Would black cam cover sealant be useable for the sump??

Nope, grey sealant same as oil cooler cover :y

Rtv clear instant gasket?  Dont know why im asking anyway, looks like the 2.6 will be getting  broken unless the rather misfire magically sorts itself out
