Also, have you had the software updated to the latest version. TB or MDTM have transformed rough running automatics into smooth running limousines with the upgrade.  :y

Have got white led's in mine - definately a lot sharper white and does make a slight difference - but tbh I wish I'd spent a tenner on other things. Legallity wise not sure as they are white - although was behind a police car for about 10 miles on the M6 last night and they never bothered to pull me over about them - although the packaging for the LED's did say they are not for public highway use!!!  They would probably have pulled me if they where in the mood.

See here :- http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1186345510/6#6I also had a potential issue but fortunately my 2.6 was the earlier version which has the adjustable idler. They changed over at about engine number 8570000 or somewhere very close to the non adjustable one.  Did you get your kit from VX or a factors - cause you'll get the non marked belt also.  See Nickbats post - is very good reading and very educational - especially Kevin Woods input

You'd be much better keeping the tractor engine where it is and swap everything over from the elite. I think if you do it the other way around you'll be getting your self in a world of frustration and stress. And more than likely the costs would best be spent on an elite TD - you could always recoup the costs breaking the 2 cars and getting the replacement of your choice and condition out of the profits. :y

I had something similar - but tapping noise (passenger front side too) would only appear when the engine was getting hot.  Root caused it to a loose centre upper idler (shown below :y)

.

Was causing the cambelt to flap and give off a serious smell of melting rubber too. Anyhow - fixed it by replacing the tensioners, belt etc.  I think I was really close to having the engine written off with that one. By the way my cambelt wasn't due to be changed for another 13K so even the 40k cushion doesn't always protect you :o Never assume!!

I thought that the doors fail open for the sake of safety?

took the circular cover off in the boot and there seemed to be a small amount of petrol leaking out from under the large black cover

Are you sure that it was leaking from the cover to the tank or from one of the
2 pipes coming out of the cover?

Remove cover again, switch on ignition to get the pump to run, no need to start
the engine, and check again.

Grumpy'a done an excellent 'How To' http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1186065848  See if that helps with the petrol leak/smell:y

Sounds a bit like the Diff to me - am sure others will confirm otherwise.

Did the EML come on immediately after you put the new sensor on? If not you may have another issue.

Might be something more sinister like an ABS ECU problem. What year is your car? ( might be handy putting that and auto/manual in your personal details in the unlikely event of having any future questions!). Does it have cruise control and if so does it work?  Do you get the normal range of lights greeting you and then going off on the dashboard when you start up?

Wouldn't the ABS and TC light be on if that was the case? Best think of the simple things like fuses before going into the excessive technical problems.

I used to have a Vectra Company Car that did that - was a 2.0 and a 95 plate - never got to the root cause then - was in the dealers god knows how many times.  You learn something new every day on here :y

Welcome to the forum Ian. As Bruce has already said the wishbones are easy to change, unlike some other cars I could mention. Worth doing yourself and saving a bob or two. :y

The 'How to guide', imho, are a lot better than the usuall book of lies. Mainly because they are done/carried out by ourselves and you can usually ask 'an expert' direct if you are having problems. Not much good when you are on your own with a book.

The DVD on cam belt change is also a good thing, I am lead to believe, and that will also save you some money when needed.

Absolutely and well said that man - DVD is excellent and detroys the myth of how complicated it's made out to be.

Oh welcome to the forum :y

can anybody confirm if i can change over my back plate or not to the kit i wrongly bought or do i have to sell this one and buy the proper one (it was suggested that MARK DTM might now this)

Can't help you on this one - apart from suggesting to call the stealers and ask the questions you're asking here - (omit the ebay bit though ;)) You may be surpised and get the answer from the horses mouth as they say - some are quite helpful
