Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Alpine F1, Dynaudio System 340
« on: 29 April 2007, 13:33:01 »
Just wondering if anyone has put any high end audio into a meega.  Want to know if it is pretty good for sound as some cars you can put anything in them and they sound crap!!I used to run a fairly expensive system in one of my other cars and now I want to put it into my MV6 saloon.
I can wait no longer and as I used to install this stuff years ago, i have no excuse, i am going to have to put it all in. This is the kit that i have got to put in, i would appreciate comments on the kit.
Alpine CDA-7990 F1 Head unit
Dynaudio System 340 3 Way Component Speakers (front)
Diamond Audio D7 6x50 Watts RMS Amp (4 of the channels bridged to give 2 x 200 Watts RMS to drive Dyns)
DLS A6 Mono Amp for Quality Bass (up to 1200W RMS @ 1 ohm)
Diamond Audio 10" x 2 Subs in appox 1.3 cu ft sealed box for sounds quality

I haven't thought about putting anything in the rear doors at the moment as i would need to buy these but i am thinking another set of dyns like the 260GT but i usually have them faded out when i am in the car on my own. I love sound quality, and think that the meega would be a good car as it sounds quite dead, sonically and would give a great sound. Not into the really loud boom boxes, just quality. That load of gear listed above cost me about £6000 3 or so years ago without all the cabling and sound deadening.

Look forwards to some replies!!

Omega General Help / Electric Seat Height Adjustment Stuck
« on: 03 February 2010, 12:12:15 »
I have seen on the forum that you need a 13mm socket to adjust the seat height when the motor has got stuck. My motor is stuck but you can still hear it clicking but not moving the seat. I have tried a 13mm socket and it does not go anywhere near, are they all 13mm? I have tried 3/8 & 1/4 inch drive sockets but still too big. Any other suggestions on how to move the seat. It is stuck in the fully up position so can get access to everything ok.

Thanks in advance.

Omega General Help / V6 Smells Hot after running
« on: 29 March 2010, 23:11:10 »
as said above when my 3.0 MV6 has been running for a while and is up to temp it smells quite hot, i noticed this on my old 2.5 V6 i had a few years ago. There are no oil leaks, even from the rockers, not burning oil and does not smell of burning oil and the water system has recently been flushed and new coolant added. The water temp always stays right in the middle of the scale. Other than this then engine is running absolutely fine just smells hot. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or it is a symptom of something that needs attention.
Thanks guys in advance.
The car has done 86,000 and has regular oil changes. About every 3k.

Omega General Help / MV6 Rear Shocks
« on: 26 January 2010, 18:21:37 »
My MV6 needed to have the rear shocks replaced so i replaced them with some gas ones from the local motor factors. The problem is since i replaced them there is a rumblings noise coming from the boot area. I cannot take them back as this was over a year ago and the car has sat since last may. I MOT'd it the other day to put it back on the road and remembered the rumbling sound was there that i had previously forgot. I did also at the time of fitting the shocks replace the upper mount bushes that sit on either side of the body work as the old ones were knackered. I need to replace these shocks again as the sound is driving me mad, i think that it can only be these shocks as the noise only appeared when i replaced them. Can someone recommend a good quality shock that will not upset the ride and want to keep it fairly standard.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Also if anyone can give me an idea of how much i should pay for a pair would also be good.

The MV6 passed the mot with no problems at all and the rear springs are also fine!

Thanks

Just to add it does not have any self levelling shocks.

Omega General Help / Plastic Headlight Lenses
« on: 17 July 2008, 12:44:52 »
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to clean up the plastic lenses on a 99 omega, mini facelift model. The lenses look all cloudy now and i am sure it is not helping the light beams.
If they cannot be cleaned can you get new lenses.
They are xenon headlamps.
Thanks in advance guys.

Omega General Help / MV6 Brakes & Suspension
« on: 18 May 2008, 17:59:11 »
Hi Guys, I am looking at replacing my brakes discs and suspension  as had an advisory on the discs in the MOT. I have been either looking at standard or the Black Diamond range and / or EBC performance pads, can someone give me some advice on this PLEASE!! Also i want to change the shockers and springs, not sure what to get, as it is an MV6 is appears to be lower than standard anyway some want to retain the same ride height, some people have said Irmscher Springs all round with Bilstein dampers seems to give best results, any advice would be great!!
Thanks in advance  :y

Omega General Help / MV6 Supspension
« on: 14 December 2007, 23:53:31 »
want to fit new springs and dampers on my 1999 MV6 saloon. Don't want to lower it anymore than it is as it is lower than my old 2.5 CDX. Can someone please tell me which make would suit this car best, Eibach, Koni, Bilstein. Want really good quality and retain the same ride height, if it does have to be lowered then i only want it to be slight. Was also thinking about new anti-roll bar kit from Eibach. Can anyone give me some advice on this??
Thanks in advance!!

Omega General Help / Rear Shock absorber tightness
« on: 28 May 2007, 16:04:27 »
Can anyone tell me how tight the nut should be on the inside of the bodywork for the nut on the top of the rear shock absorber. I don't think it has to be really tight but is supposed to be so far down the thread???
Thanks in advance

Omega General Help / dull knocking noise from rear
« on: 11 May 2007, 15:09:27 »
Hi Guys,
I have just replaced the rear shocks on my MV6 Saloon as they were getting really tired. I got a garage to do it and I got hold of some sachs gas ones, they are not the self levelling ones as my car has not got that feature but since they were fitted i have been getting a sort of dull knocking sound coming from the rear when i go over small bumps and it is really annoying. I have also got this creaking sound when i either go round corners or driving on and off my my driveway coming from just behind the drivers side rear passenger seat but the dull noise has only come about since the new shocks. The garage also told me that they checked all the rear bushes as i asked them and they were all ok. The car has only donw about 1000 miles since its last MOT which it passed with no problems.
Can anyone help please????
Thanks in advance!!

Omega General Help / Creaking Sound from rear
« on: 29 April 2007, 16:55:08 »
Can anyone help me? I have got a loud creaking sound coming from the drivers side rear of the car. Just had all the bushes checked and it is none of those, someone else said to me that there is a mod that can be done under the rear seats to stop it.
Any ideas cause it is driving me crazy...

Newbie Welcome Area / Another Newbie
« on: 28 April 2007, 11:16:26 »
Hi All,

I am now on my second Omega, the first was a 2.5 CDX Saloon, then i change to brand new cars for a few years because of my business but about a year ago i was searching for the car i really wanted, and then i found it after much searching around the country trying to find a decent one. It is a 1999 3.0 MV6 Saloon, with the leather and a manual box. Fairly low mileage when i bought it and every bit of paper possible, even down to reciepts for bulbs.
Look forward to using this forum especially as you all look like a really helpful and decent bunch.

Please all call me Jimbo!!
Thanks
