3.2 LPG Owners - Whats your MPG
« on: 11 October 2013, 16:40:57 »

As title really, in town, average and on a run?

Until recently was bombing around in a 3.2 Manual with LPG, as some know have just acquired a 3.2 LPG Auto Estate and would like to hear what others are getting MPG wise, I assume most of yours will be Auto, if not please state so.

Thanks Chris.  :y

3.2 auto, Stag kit. I get about 17-18mpg over a tank, Mrs TB always seems to get more than 21 over a tank.

3.0 auto, Stag kit. I get about 19-20mpg, Mrs TB gets 22-24mpg.

3.2 auto estate c/w stag lpg kit

16 mpg round town with a boot full of gear.
18 - 19 mpg on a run (mostly "A" roads with 3 up and a big dog  ;D)

Best i've ever had is 22 mpg on a "drive like miss daisy" type run form Hull to Lincoln.
Cruise set to 50 / 60 / 70 all the way  :(

What was you getting with the manual Chris ?

What was you getting with the manual Chris ?
3.2 Manual Saloon with Ovi LPG, in and out of London on LPG, about 24 mpg, average 27, on M1 33 mpg
.
Lately have needed an Estate for work in London, so been using the other 3.2 Manual Estate on Petrol only, in and out about 27 mpg on petrol.

Just been using the new 3.2 Auto Estate with Stag LPG, in and out of London......     wait for it....   14.5 mpg on gas, doing the pound for pound sums, theres not much in it between the 2 Estates  :(

Any idea what gearbox (r28 / 30) and diff was on the manual Chris ?

I'm having serious trouble trying to like this autobox on mine after the old estates 3ltr manual / 3.7 diff  :(

Both the 3.2 Manuals are ex iPlod,  but have the normal box and LSD Diff of 3.7 as it should be.

Just seems driving in London in the Auto seem to spend most of my time with the foot on the Brake, where as in the Manual and a shed load of shite in the back of the Estate, pulls quiet happy at 30 in 5 th gear.

It may benefit from a quick look at the tuning but, tbh, if you're being heavy footed then those figures could be right :o

I had to fill the (same size) tank today after around 200 miles (all around town) :o :o

Think you know the car well LD, its Johns one from a few weeks ago, thinking of changing the MAF this weekend, does have a blow in the exhaust before the rear box, but wouldn't have thought it would make that much difference. Heavy Footed, been driving it like Miss Daisy.

Yep, I realised that and, like I said, I may benefit from a tune up... It's been on a "To Do List" for a while :-X :-[

As you have another MAF it's worth swapping in ;) Exhaust blow could do it but unlikely.

Might take you upon that one, seeing as you know the car, probably a bit premature but I planning on being in Albitz Land one day next week.  ;)

Depending on what day we might be able to do something, although can't promise anything as I'm way behind on paperwork and must dedicate some time to catching up!

No idea. But the CID says 19mpg.

I would say though, that coming from a manual, it must be quite differant driving an Auto. As it will just roll and roll. They don't need even half the amount of open throttle a manual does. Iirc...?

In fact, in traffic, to relieve the boredom my favourite game is to stay off the brakes as much as possible. Which means judging when to lift the throttle, and its WAY before you would lift on a manual.

Or, on a long straight, round about approaching, try to get round the roundabout without braking.

Anyway, you get the idea. It saves loads if fuel. Let it roll baby. (Traffic permitting)

Am I right in thinking that the R30 box has a longer 5th gear but are like rocking horse poo to find ?

I know what you mean about sticking it in 5th early.
Used to have it in top before 30 mph and even with a boot full of cable and tools, I could get 25 mpg with ease around town.

Sorry for the slight thread drift

Yea, no worries LD, as said probably a bit premature, will swap the Maf and give another run, but in the back of my ming something isn't quiet right given the MPG.  :-\
