Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Bose?
« on: 07 May 2009, 08:13:07 »
Hi Rob,
well, you`ll have to strip down door panels and install the amp under rear shelf which is a pain if you use your boot a lot- you`d lose around 3inches from the top (i couldn`t get two 18 alloys in because of the casing) but on the other hand, if using base on high setting, you can feel the vibe  ::)
Also, when changing solenoids in my prefacelift, i noticed that the speakers were not Bose at all, and the other elite we broke had infinity units in  :-/
I`m sure one of the geeks guys on here will give you a technical pros and cons answer  :)

Surely your indicator should disengage when left parked with straight wheel!?  :-?

Parking light comes handy if you had to leave your car on roadside, slighly sticking out on main road after dusk ::) light up one side and you`re safe..

PS.my carlton did that too, no buzzer though

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Failed door lock

I had the same problem with 2 doors in short space of time.
Even had to climb into the car through rear passenger doors..
Changed solenoids in all 4 doors (to be on the safe side) and this problem hasn`t occured since!

most places should be able to give you the right cam belt set from the registration  :y i found this place quite reasonable http://stores.ebay.co.uk/VAUXCENTRE they don't list all the parts they do so better to give them a ring  :y
unless its private plated  ::)

Chris, Eibach lists the same part number for omega B and C (2.5-3.2)on one of the online shops so guess they are `swappable` :)

Omega General Help / Re: Fitting exhaust system
« on: 28 April 2009, 00:44:18 »
I had to change both middle boxes on my 3.2 as came detached from back box!
Bought the pattern parts (around £60ea, can`t remember) and all fine, didn`t take long for my partner to fit them and the sound is deeper on acceleration  ::)

Your batteries are shot in your power sounder! only way to clear this problem is unplug the sounder that is under the wiper arm drivers side plastic tray, done this on four omega's now, Takes five minutes and your get a good night sleep and the neighbour!

Omega General Help / Re: Water Leak MV6
« on: 07 March 2009, 17:34:15 »
Well, my goldie no.1 (pre fl 3.0) was losing even 1 litre per day!! Changed hbv and other water pipes but was still running at the back down the metal pipe behind the engine- you could see corrosion  on bolts etc.. and in the end i chucked Bar Leak-stop and guess what! hasn`t lost a drop in the past 6months  ::)
I know it`s best to find and replace the problem part but i`m only a woman  ::) :-*

Omega General Help / Re: duplex exhaust on a omega b ?
« on: 07 March 2009, 17:50:14 »

My old goldie had twin irmscher back box while Rob`s one duplex system- it`s not as hard as you`d think as the side pipe goes underneath that little spoiler lip between the two outlets

Omega General Help / Re: drivers door opens while driving!
« on: 31 January 2009, 12:02:49 »
funny, my FL did that to me few days ago- when below zero- on a left hand bend doors swung open to first notch on door stay. I stopped and tried the outside handle a few times as it was stiff that morning.
Haven`t had a problem since..

Omega General Help / Re: Creamy coolant problem

Back on topic, sounds like a oil cooler issue if oil in coolant.  The failed HG is likely due to overheating due to poor coolant circ due to being sludge.
Well, new oil cooler is in place now. Also flushed cooling system twice and saw improvement at last! but fan didn`t cut in when it should! Switched the mig off before it cooked but built up pressure blew the hose off  [smiley=undecided.gif]
Could this be one of radiator heat sensors? (either wm or xa, or both?)
Any advice much appreciated
Marti

Can only suggest the reset the vents trick, auto and off together for 5 seconds or so with ignition on engine off
will try that in a sec

[Failing that a trip to see Kevin in Alton for a tech 2 fiddle]
