xenon wiring help!
« on: 09 March 2009, 18:36:09 »

Have got new headlights to fit in the car.

I need confirmation on the wiring as the colours are different.

old lights

INDICATOR

Brown
Black/Brown

LEVEL MOTOR

Brown
Brown/yellow
Yellow

MAIN PLUG

Brown
White
Yellow
Grey/Red

New lights

INDICATOR

LEVEL MOTOR

Brown

Brown/Grey

MAIN PLUG

BALLAST

Brown
Yellow

Q1. can I solder the Brown & Yellow for the ballast to the motor wires of the same colour?

Q2. If not which ones do I connect to?

Q3. Have I got an earlier loom, as the wire colours are different?

Thanks

Easy.

Swap the level motor over from the old lights.

The rest is obvious.

The ballast should connect to the Brown and yellow from the main plug.

xenon motors require an ECU and sensors as you dont have any of these then you cant use the xenon motors as they use the data from the sensors to level themselves

so that is why mark has suggested using the original lift motors as the lights will adjust with the manual switch on the light switch

btw what your doing is illegal Xenon lights require a self levelling mechanism unless your car is an elite then you wont have this system

Correct, the HID self leveling motors will not work with the manual leveling setup.

Easy enough to swap the motors over

You crashed that Fiesta yet!  ;D ;D

No!!

I've been razzing it round though,  my son has his test tomorrow, if he passes he will have it and i will be £50 better off each month as he can pay the insurance  ;) (Tax is due this month as well  :D)

Both lights work ok, manual motors adjust ok as well.

all wires soldered in & taped up
thanks for the info

Sorry to bring this old post from the dead... but I got a question on the wiring of the Motors...

THere is the:

Brown
Yellow/Brown
Yellow...

Which one does what...

I assume the Brown is (-)
Then the other two are (+) and depending on which one you power the motor spins one way or the other causing the lights  to go up and down...

Question is which one is which? and am I correct on the wiring order?

I need to make these work with a manual switch on the dashboard and I am trying to figure out how...

THanks.
