Yes I love the BBC, as out of all the media it is the one I think you can trust most.

But, like everything else, it is only as good as the weakest people who work for that organisation ;).

The Bias Broadcasting Corporation. Where to begin?

The BBC wouldn't know balance and objectivity if they turned around and took a lump out of the BBC's wrinkled arse.

The BBC had a clear left wing anti-brexit stance, which it didn't try to hide.

Three nights of  George Floyd propaganda thrown in so far this week to let white neanderthals know how racist they are.

If you do the tiniest bit of research on the Martin Bashir fiasco, you will find that Beeb did their own investigation when the first rumblings of a problem started.
They produced a whitewash which cleared him, and the Director General then stated that Bashir was an honourable man.
Bashir was until last week, Head of religious programming on the BBC, but resigned when he knew what this report was going to say about him.
The cover up had been uncovered at last and he and the BBC had nowhere left to hide.
As an organisation, the BBC is a national disgrace and should be shut down today.

Yes I have heard all that, but to “shut down” today what is overall a very sound global news broadcaster over a bad situation all those years ago is just nonsense. All organisations can have a bad day, even bad year, but judge them on what they do now in 2021, not in 1995.

In any case Princess Dianne was badly flawed and that interview was not influenced by anything Bashir did; she had primed herself to dish the dirt to whoever was going to listen to her, BBC, ITV, Fox News, The Sun, etc, etc.

So to rubbish the BBC today is just daft. If you don’t like the BBC productions, then switch to another channel.  Simples.  ;)

I've no time for the BBC. The license needs to be scrapped and they need to get adverts. Oh so you mean like the adverts you get in BBC content on You Tube? Yes, exactly that.

There argument of 'we wouldn't make the programmes we make if we went commercial.' is flawed. In which case, you're obviously out of touch if you think you are winning viewers making shows for the minority, You Tube, tiktoc etc already offer videos for every niche you can think of.

Also, we could get rid of an entire government department, which on its own, is a great idea.

I only have a TV license because my son occasionally watches BBC content. The wife isn't bothered and neither of us watches live TV anymore.

If I lived on my own, I could legally watch live TV without a TV license, as there is a loophole, which I don't think has been closed that means I'm already licensed with a free license. Although I'm not sure I'd want to test I in court. I'd be the one they wanted to make an example of.

For years I was an ardent BBC supporter. Good programmes, good drama, various TV series etc

Then gradually they went woke, overpaid, and political. Not their job. There should be no slant or opinion.

I also think they splurge huge amounts of cash, my cash.

A few years ago I was on business staying in a hotel, just having a quiet pint in the bar. A BBC crew loudly crashed into the bar dumped their kit on the floor and ordered two bottles of Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Very expensive wine). After just a few minutes they left, and also left most of the wine. My licence fee money. Big mouth arrogant so-and-sos flashing their cash at my expense. And, someone please explain why Gary Lineker is worth £1.7 m a year, not to mention many other grossly overpaid TV presenters.

No, just an innocent virgin married off to a man who was in love with a married woman, and who had no intention of keeping to the old-fashioned practice of sticking to his marriage vows.
Plus the interview was obtained by deceipt, not only resulting in the unfair loss of
many jobs at the Beeb, but, arguably, indirectly resulting in her tragic death.

The BBC drifted from its core position of neutral, unbiased, programming for everyone about 30yrs ago.

The news service is trying to be like a 1980s tabloid paper, everything is a sensation, or exclusive (despite the fact every other outlet is reporting the same), and invariably wrong, due to lazy journalism (at best, but probably due to bias).

For light entertainment, it seems they only want to spend money on 2 programmes - Knobenders, which surely nobody watches, and Strictly Come Celebrity Wank, which probably drags in 2 more viewers.  Knobenders ran its turn probably by 1990, but is a vehicle for carpet munching black on white shagging.  And Strictly must surely be kept going due to a complete lack of new ideas from the BBC.

Plus the interview was obtained by deceipt, not only resulting in the unfair loss of
many jobs at the Beeb, but, arguably, indirectly resulting in her tragic death.

Lady Dianne was born into British nobility being very close to the Royal Family.  She should have known how the Royal establishment operates and what is expected of those who marry into it.  She had a very privileged start in life that most women can only dream about.  She was meant to be an intelligent young women, so could have managed her life differently but I am sure was rather blinded by the status of being a Royal.  She should have carried out far more research on who Prince Charles was, beyond what she should have known only too well being in a family so close to the Royals.

Marrying into the Royal Family is a very serious business and I am sure from what I have read and heard about her situation at the time she underestimated that and it simply overcome her, causing the mental health difficulties that Harry and Megan are now complaining about.  Living under the intense spot light of our media is enough, and having to "cope" in the Royal circle could blow anyone's mind.  But she could and should have handled it far better than she did, and not resort to some, what I thought of, as childish ploys to get sympathy and then go off with a lover instead of sorting it out with Charles.

She could have done a lot better.  But it all proved that high privilege, unlimited wealth, and great influence cannot replace intelligence and REAL love, not a fantasy of one. ;)

All the Bashir interview did, and any interview could have unlocked it no matter what skulduggery was behind it, was give Dianne a chance to off load her emotions to the general public, which is against the rules within the Royal circle!

So the BBC was at fault in 1995/96, but to condemn everything they do now is just over the top and other media outlets are just playing on it! ::) ::)

Could have done better?

From a Society perspective, marrying the heir to the throne and producing the next one is probably the pinnacle.

Whether she fully understood or appreciated the implications of such an achievement is open to debate, but as Society careers go, Diana gave it a pretty good shot.

Until the interview, the impotus of which was down to Fergies behaviour.
