codes running engine 1212 not running 3131 anyone help to decode thanks

12 is the start of the sequence..... nothing to worry about.

31 is an RPM fault (because it's not running)..... nothing to worry about.

I.E. You've got no codes stored ;) :y

12 Initiation of diagnosis

31 Engine RPM signal (crankshaft sensor) No signal - normal if engine not running.

thank u for that but still the car is running badly and smells of eggs could it be spark plugs

please can anyone tell me why my omega is running like poo and smells of eggs ive changed the cats still the same thanks wayne
 when u rev the engine the exhaust sounds like its popping or banging and the car fills like its missing thanks
the car is a 3liter elite r reg 98 i thick

Without more info I can't say why it's running like poo, but the eggy smell could be your aircon. The system builds up bacteria over a period of time causing the smell. I believe you can buy antibacterial deodorising packs that you place in the car with the aircon running for 10 mins or so, possibly from Halfords or good car accessory shops. Alternatively take it to an aircon specialist who can treat the system and change the filters.

Eggy smell is probably the cats if the engine is also running rough. First step is to paperclip it and see if there are any fault codes.

FYI, Tescos are selling the deodorising packs for about six quid  :y

It's a way of reading fault codes without a diagnostic computer such as a Tech2. Have a look here.....
