OK, so by pulling the auto stick backwards you can generate some engine braking, but is there a sensible limit to max revs and time you should do this for before something breaks?

Theory is that you can select 1st eg at what ever daft speed you want to   but ..... the gearbox doesn't actually select that gear untill the car is going slowly enough. I've never tested it though!  :-/

Spot on Andy the gearbox will only allow change when the maximum speed in the particular gear is achieved, stops the driver fubaring anything by overevving

I can only guess at the response from an Insurance co. for an 18 year old trying to get group 16/17 insurance  

Why is the Omega such a high group car?, only reason I can see is risk of theft, but what carpet-slippered wearing scrote would nick an Omega?

1.7 tons of car capable of in excess of 150+ could do as much damage as a scud missile in the wrong hands
