Both of those used ones are potentially junk. Both look like they've been dug out with a prybar :o

They are not even used. Just new but damaged.

Bit regardless, I agree. I think It would be a better idea to fit the known good used cooler than those damaged ones!

Same problem with the engine going in the Austin and not found on yet, did think about getting a pipe welded to the fittings cut from cooler shaped in a shallow U. Need some 15mm pipe for that and needs 2 90deg bends in it.
That's about the most viable compromise.

Had a look at the used cooler I obtained.

It's actually not too bad looking. Threads are all intact.

In the spirit of "right part, right place" yet not shelling out excess money for a new cooler, I am thinking - pressure test it, and if it's ok, fit and forget.

I presume I can just pressure test it in a bucket of water and an air-line? Could anyone advise of what pressure to test up to, and the best way of hooking up the air to it? Thanks a million  :y

It seems that new ones are globally no longer available. You missed that boat, so good used or damaged stock is the only direct replacement option.

As for testing, do you have a coolant pressure test kit? 🤔
