Mines stopped working too, right after i installed XP x64. It would appear that some of these 'telepathy' programs don't seem to like this 64 Bit OS very much.

I don't think all codes do reset after a number of clean starts.  I believe main engine sensors do (though haven't confirmed) but some other stuff doesn't (eg 135 EML bulb and 145 immobiliser etc etc)...

And the crankshaft sensor is probably one of 'em.

Have you checked the entire cable length?

Sensors are sealed and generally quite robust, it could well be the cable at fault, especially where it is routed on the V6.  

Not that i'm saying it's the CrankShaft sensor thats at fault.

Are you sure? Why would I get an EML for a knock sensor?

Because the knock sensor is required for correct ignition timing.  

"Under failure conditions, the ECU enters a limp home mode where the timing is retarded to protect the cylinders. This results in the engine running and idling perfectly but, there is a BIG drop in output power."

On my P reg 2.5 CDX, it would pull violently to the left under braking, and when I let the brakes off would swing violently in the other direction. It was really dangerous, and this turned out to be a wishbone.

At the time I wasn't confident so put it in a garage, and they changed it for me. They only did the one though, but I'd suggest replacing in a pair.

I'd always change suspension components in pairs...

But we all know garages are not nearly as thorough as we are.

I think you should post some piccies showing the CID in all its glory. That will piss Mark off! (and me, and no doubt countless others...)

I can take some pics and do that no problem, i would however require Admin privileges for adding the images to my gallery post.  

Did you manage to get to talk to the other Admins about that issue?
