$700 bn - NO vote!
« on: 29 September 2008, 19:09:45 »

After a heavy day in the world of Finance, the vote on the $700bn isn't the foregone conclusion it seemed. It looks like the House Of Representatives has voted no. Blimey  :o :o :o

that's worrying  :-/

we will feel the impact of this decision either in a positive of negative way.

I wonder if this is someone playing political games just to score points over the opposition  >:(

Just read that - looks like the republicans didn't want to justify it to taxpaying voters! -  but it could easily trigger a worldwide panic/collapse  :o

maybe they're just grandstanding - making the government and the markets sweat a little before voting the bill through??

First thing is the stock markets are expected to go down 10-15%.

There is ZERO money flowing through the financial markets, businesses can't get loans.  Not just construction, large equipment purchases, etc.  The worst will be the states, but it will affect everyone.  The dollar could tank, meaning that no one makes money out of the Far East and they make lots of money out of us.  That will ripple across Europe. Then there's no way out but down.

This can only greatly knock confidence in the financial markets still further and bring the necessary movement of money to a snails pace! :o :o :o :o

I do not want to sound all doom and gloom, which is hard not to now, but this could be an inevitable fiscal disaster of the magnitude of the 1929 Wall Street Crash which took until 1954 to be fully recovered from!

These are interesting times!  But most of us are just pawns now in a fantastic game of power politics and financial (mismanagement) games! :'( :'( :'( :'(

Like the Titanic there now seems little chance in stopping us from sinking, as we have already hit the ice burg! :o :o

I think we hit the iceberg some time ago.

What's happening now is we are working out how big the hole is and how to shore it up. The US just voted to let it leak so that we can see how big it is.

That is correct Dusty. Globalisation was the word on everyones lips last year, it's a pity no one can work out exactly how it operates. :)
