This situation is scary but exciting at the same time.
We simply just do not know what is going to happen in the next day or so.
That is correct Dusty. Globalisation was the word on everyones lips last year, it's a pity no one can work out exactly how it operates.
Well they do and I have had the privilege of listening and being lectured by an internationally renowed published aurthor, advisor (at government level) and pure expert in this field, Professor A.J. Groom.
Put simply everything that happens in this world of ours, financially, industrially, domestically (through purchasses / consumerism, etc), environmentally and politically has an effect somewhere else on the planet as it is all interlinked more than ever before in history.
That is why the current crisis affects so many around the world.
Hi Lizzie.
Do you have a link to a website for Professor A.J. Groom so we can have a read up on what he says please?
TIA
Please find listed the three main web sites for Professor A.J.R Groom;
First is the one contected to my uni, Canterbury Christ Church where he currently lectures:
http://www.canterbury.ac.uk/social-applied-sciences/applied-social-sciences/Staff/Professor-Groom/Home.aspxYou can also gather further information from two other sites;
first one is for The University of Kent, also in Canterbury:
http://www.kent.ac.uk/politics/about-us/staff/members/groom.htmlthen another useful link is:
http://www.worldwhoswho.com/public/views/entry.html?id=sl2174901As for books there are sixteen he has written over the years, plus about 160 papers on International / Global relations.
His most popular is Groom, A.J.R. (1991) Internation Relations Then & Now[/i], which I was never able to obtain a copy of as the cheapest of e-bay was £50, with the next at £200, so I and my fellow students just used protected special photocopies lent by John Groom as he was lecturing us! 8-)
Another one is Groom, A.J.R. and Taylor, P. (1990)
Framework for International Cooperation London: Pinter
If you require further excellent insight into 'Globalisation' I would highly recommend two keys books that I have had to extensively study:
Langhorne, R. (2006)
The Essentials of Global Politics London: Hodder Arnold
Baylis, J. & Smith, S. (2006)
The Globalisation of World Politics 3rd Edition Oxford: Oxford University Press
I hope this helps!
