Trip to the DVLA Office Tomorrow... Question...
« on: 23 September 2007, 18:13:54 »

Just got the V5 now from Pete for Project EP1 which I got, but the taxation class is listed as DISABLED

The DVLA site is useless...  Says to change the taxation to Disabled, I can do it with the V5C/2 (which I now have) but nothing about changing it from Disabled to PLG...

Is there a fee to changing the taxation class??  And should I be ok with the New Keepers Suppliment, MOT, Insurance and my Driving License as all the documentation I need??

Thanks

Paul

I just took my v5 in to the post office to tax the miggy cause both my parents are disabled and when it came back it had disabled on it..So i guess  all you do is send it off and they reverse the taxation class...

Well I have insurance for the Omega (have certificate), it's got its MOT cert (in date), I have both parts of my driving license...

It's just the taxation class which is bugging me...

To change class from DISABLED back to PLG, you need to take the V5 to the local area DVLA office, where you can tax it and they will send it off for a new V5 with PLG on it. You will probably get two, one with DISABLED and the next with PLG. When you get the second one, shred the first.

My experience is that it's pointless phoning them or contacting them any way other than by a visit. You get put through to someone in Swansea with no idea whatsoever. Turn up in person with every piece of documentation related to the car, just in case, queue up with the shady car dealers and don't take no for an answer when you get to the desk.

If you enjoyed that try registering a kit car for your next challenge  ::)

Good Luck

It always amazed me how easy and hassle free it is to get a car set as disabled tax status (as it should be with the correct documentation) but, surely it should automaticaly revert back to full fee and non disabled status when the car changes owner.

But ow no, this is the public sector we are talking about and the obvious is not allowed.

....just a heads up, are they open today? post offices for example are not. Maybe worth a call in advance to your journey..
