Omega General Help / Door opening problem
« on: 02 January 2015, 12:10:43 »
Hi all, a few months ago my drivers door started to fly open when driving,I examined the catch and locking mechanism and tried to open the closed latch with a screw driver but it was solid. Any way I intended to look further into it but never got around to it. The upshot was it started to work normally again until a few days ago when it started opening again. When the door is closed even firm pressure from the inside will not make it open but then suddenly without warning whilst on the move it will suddenly open.
Any clues?  :-\

TIA
Regards
Tony

« on: 22 August 2014, 18:02:18 »
Evenin' all, I've just been searching the net for a steering idler arm. Came across a company called Algermanparts and they had two arms listed one made by Febi Bilstein at a cost of £22.54 and another made by Lemforder at a price of £42.52 quite a price difference  any opinions as to which one to go for my local factors want £84.00 for one   :o and I don't even know what make it is.

General Car Chat / Seized engine
« on: 18 August 2014, 18:40:50 »
Hi all, my works van which is   2.5 diesel Citroen Relay engine has seized due to lack of oil. ( yes I know I am an idiot for allowing this )
Replacing the engine is not financially viable, so my train of thought is hopefully the problem is the crank shaft so for the cost of new shells and cleaning up the journals it might be worth a go. so any advice or opinions would be greatfully appreciated especially from anyone that has had experience working on this particular engine.

TIA
Tony

Hi all, I'm in a bit of a spot. I have a Fiesta that is "mothballed" and parked on private ground. I sorned it when the tax ran out on April 2012 It got clamped by the DVLA or their contractors this morning. They intend to lift it and take it to the pound tomorrow, I have looked on the DVLA website to see what info they hold on this car and discovered errors, I cannot access the tax history as their computer says I have entered invalid details even though I have filled all the relevant question boxes correctly.their data base states that it ran out of tax in 2012 no mention of a sorn even though I have the sorn acknowledgement  letter in front of me for 2012- 2013 I did not receive a reminder to sorn it this year so the sorn for now was over looked maybe the reason that I did not get this reminder is because of the incorrect info on their data base. I have spoken to the DVLA regarding this matter and they have stated that I can lodge an appeal in writing. I contacted the clamping company this afternoon and informed them of my appeal and the grounds that the appeal would be based on, but they were not interested and still intend to take the car to the pound tomorrow. The intend to charge me all the costs that I will incure and have said that if my appeal is successful I will get them refunded. But I don't think that's the point What happened to "innocent until proven guilty" Is there anything I can do legally to prevent them removing the car. Advice please the clock is ticking

TIA

Omega General Help / Exhaust choice advive please
« on: 22 April 2014, 19:39:53 »
"Eavin all" I need a new exhaust for my 2.5 Mig unfortunately due to back problems I'm not up to scrambling underneath a car on axel stands to do the job myself anymore so I'll have to  trust a garage or similar to do the work. As we all know there are exhausts and there are exhausts from a quality point of view so can anyone give me the "heads up" on what make to look out for?

Omega General Help / Heater playing up
« on: 04 March 2014, 19:27:47 »
Hi all, is there any link with the outside temperature sensor and the cabin heater? The reason I ask is they both seem to have malfunctioned at the same time (or is that just coincidence) the heater only blows hot air when it is set on the "HI" and the outside Temperature reading was displaying either 58 oC or 63 oC now it just  displays F oC.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem
