They're M8. And the threads aren't long enough for a nyloc, which is why a spring/star/so-called-lockwasher is used

Thanks Nick. I'll see if I can find one.  :y

How many bolts holds the wiper motor and linkage in the face lift?

The maintenance guide says 4 bolts.

Support brace on the bulkhead iirc ;)

It's readily accessible, but not clearly visible at a glance.

There are definitely 4.
Never been able to fathom out how to load piccies on here, but the following Ebay item clearly shows the location of the four mounting holes...
Item no. 254552223092

Specifically, two bolts at the driver end... One above and one below the wiper spigot, and two by the passenger spigot... One next to it and one up from it :y

That screw is easy to drop (and lose forever). You can't get your fingers at it. The groove moulded into the base is to aid access. You need a 1/4" drive socket on an extension and a bit of Blutac. Or a suitable long nut driver and Blutac.  Not sure of the socket size, might be 6mm. A 3/8" drive tool won't fit between the base and rod above it.

Isn't it enough to just take the wiper arms off and then put them back in the position you want?

When I do work that needs to take the wiper arms off, like removing the scuttle for better access, I put a piece of masking tape on the windshield to mark the position the wipers had when I removed them.
