drivers front door catch / latch
« on: 21 September 2020, 22:23:38 »

Hi group- just wondering if anyone might have a good ,used  front drivers side   door catch/latch lying around ?  my  current  , miggy  is a 1998 3.0l elite  saloon  and the  present lock/latch that is in the door  has been found to be completely seized -up and broken when removed  from my  car door and i,ve tried a number of vauxhall dealers and  along with  many hours of  looking "on-line" and of course E-Bay with no luck at all !   and i,ve since been told by various dealers  that this latch/lock  is no longer available from vauxhall !! so good people out there any help and/or  advice  would be most welcome and greatly appreciated - thanks group

Looks like you have two real choices...

1. Buy a complete door.

2. Buy a complete car.

You might get lucky and find one here... :-\

Here's a car being broken in the UK LINK, that only took a few seconds to find, and might be worth a try.

The driver's door lock is often wrongly condemned and replaced when the central locking plays up, which could explain why you're struggling to find one

If the rubber along the outside bottom edge of the window has split at the rear end, then you'll be wanting to change that as well as it's what allows water to drain onto the lock mechanism causing it to corrode and fail...
