General Car Chat / Insignia 1.8 petrol

Good afternoon. I am looking for advice for a friend of mine who has a insignia and his brake lights are playing up.They are on constant when parked up and turned off (keh in pocket). They dont always come on when driving but then stay on. Pedal depressed half way lights go out then back on .once pedal is down the lights are on then once you release pedal half way lights go out. Once fully depressed everything is ok for a few seconds then brake lights come on even when j not touched the pedal.
 He has changed the switch and still the same.
 Even when you disconnect the switch near pedal the brake lights work intermittently but the lights dont stay on when parked up.
 Sorry for the long message but tried to give much info as possible. Am I right that the switch can not be adjusted

General Car Chat / vectra sri 2.2

Hi all after selling the omega I brought a sri vectra 2.2 which to be fair the performance is good and fuel economy is good getting 450 miles out if a tank of petrol .
 The down side is that compared to the omega the ride is hard and the seating is uncomfortable for me .
 Anyway I have a issue with it when I'm driving in getting a wining noise from it even in reverse could this be the gearbox on its way out or could k put some stuff in to help quiet the noise down .
 The reason I'm asking is that I'm selling the car soon as I'm getting g something different and k want to try and get most of the money j brought it for . Only had it 4 month .

 After nearly two weeks somebody has came and brought the omega estate and drove it away.
 Anyway still going to billing this year as going on the vectra so hopefully see some of you guys down there .

Afternoon all I hafe decided to sell the omega.
After owning 5 of these time has come to have a change as jo longer need estate .
 It's a 2.2 manual in silver .all the usual gadgets on
Air con
Sports interior out of my old omega
5x alloys with good tyres
Very clean for year (2000) mode
M.o.t till November
Very reliable and we'll looked after .
Looking for £550 ono if any interested .   Pm me please

Omega General Help / head gasket all done . but ??

Hi all I've just put the head back on my omega and it started with a bit of a struggle as the battery nearly flat.
 Anyway while running seemed a bit lumpy and the spanner light came on. Plugged code reader in and came up maf sensor . Once I removed it and a good luck the little wires inside are missing would this cause it to idle wroughly.?
 Also the heater blower not work now but did when first put ignition on . Maybe the battery us that flat now as not even the central locking will work. I'll put it on charge and see in morning .

Omega General Help / head gasket

Just picked up the omega cylinder head all clean and skimmed and the exhaust bolts removed  now for the job of putting it back together .
Just need the head gasket set with the head bolts .
Does anyone know the best place for it other than vauxhall . As I ask as plenty of people  recommend places .
 The engine is a 2.2estate x  plate 2000 year .
 I've been looking on ebay and they have two types of engine numbers . With out looking in the rain does anyone know the engine number is please .

General Car Chat / semi or full synthetic oil ??

Am I right in saying that the vectra c 2.2 sri direct takes fully synthetic oil 5/40.? Or have you guys recommend something else . Millage is 119000.  Mick

Omega General Help / bolts snapped in exhaust side on head

Afternoon . I decided to replace the head gasket on the omega thus morning well at least start it .
 Anyway I flushed the engine out first then started to strip it down and yes it was raining and I was outside . Mental I agree but I needed to get on with it .
 As the afternoon went on and no interuptions from the missis the head was soon in my arms after 3 hours . (Not bad time I think )
 Anyway like normal the first two bolts in the exhaust side snapped so looks like I might have to take it in to be fixed if I can't get them out myself .  So all in all at the moment job well done

Besides the problem with my omega estate I have just brought a 2.2 vectra Sri .
 Has anyone had these or can tell more about these cars as only had omegas .
 I was looking at a bmw 3 series but decided on the vectra .

Omega General Help / need to drain tank.

I recently filled my fuel tank with fuel and the head gasket has decided to go .
 What is the best way to drain the fuel out of the tank . 70 litres of it .

Is anyone interested in my omega estate 2.2  x plate .
 Good condition for year and got 146 thousand on the clock . Only problem is head gasket gone .
 Only reason I'm putting it on here first ad can't make mind up whether to repair first or to get rid as it is .
 The car is in silver and got all decent tyres on it . I can put pics on if needed.

Omega General Help / head gasket gone .

   afternoon all I have a 2.2 omega estate and while on the way to work last night it decided to run a little ruff on 2 cylinders . While taking it easy the temperature climbed higher than normal after nursing it to work and doing a 11 hour shift I came back to the car and had a look at it . Topped it up with water and started fine so decided to take a drive home .
 Anyway while on way I stopped at some lights the temp went straight up to 100 degrees and then steam came from under bonnet luckerly end of my road so when I got back the top of the radiator had burst open and all mayo in the oil cap and ran like a bag of nails
 Am I right stating head gone as I replaced the radiator and still same .

Omega General Help / code 0142. 1555

Good afternoon .
  After replacing my rocker cover gasket on my 2.2 omega estate the oil leak that I once had has now disappeared which us a blessing .
 Anyway while driving home I had the spanner light come on after reading the code it came up with the egr valve code 0142 I think if I remember right plus the code 1555 which is the O2 sensor . Any advice on whether to clean them or replace them both . Other than that the car running fine . A few little niggles
 1 . Small water leak from thermostat hose
 2. Small leak from looks like bottom of the radiator on the passenger side but quite easy to fix when I get round to them .

Omega General Help / key fob not work .

Afternoon all. I have a 2.2 omega estate that developed a oil leak as previous ads on here.
 Anyway found out that the rocker cover gasket had gone leaking oil down the back and in the plug Wells. 
 So decided to change it other day all went well no problems as easy job anyway .
Once I finished it I went yo lock the car with the fob and nothing worked nog even the red light on the fob lit up so at the moment having to use the key which we all know the alarm goes off when you unlock it and open he door .
 All was working fine before I fid remove yhe battery leads herb I unplugged the coil pack .
 I have changed the battery in the fob and even tried to re sync it using the method on here but still no luck ..
 Any thing else I can try as working nights not nice when I go work and the alarm goes off .
