Hi does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to replace handbrake spring on back offside passenger side wheel. It is making a racket when wheel rotates. :(

Had one snap on the old Elite Estate a few years back - IIRC was only pence from Vx. Less than a minute to fit ;)

That sounds a bit better than the £50 the garage has quoted me! >:(

Depends what they're quoting for... if it's to simply change a busted return spring, then yes it's extortionate, but if it's to replace the handbrake shoes and fitting kit on both sides and readjust the handbrake, then that's a good price :y
Takes a bit more than a minute just to change the spring though... ::)
Wheel off, caliper off, back off the handbrake adjuster, disc off, fiddle around getting the old spring out and new refitted, find out the mechanism has stuck and needs cleaning, refit disc and caliper, re adjust handbrake, refit wheel and job done :y

Yes he said it would take a while. Not replacing shoes and fitting kit though, that would be another £25 pound. Guess he is charging me for the labour as it does sound fiddly :-\

I read it as one of the springs pulling the shoes in, esp given the symptoms :)
