It's a small world, as they say!

I very much doubt (as tunnie says) it's in any way related to your aircon.. I think received wisdom is that the crank sensor is more reliable on the 2.2 than on the v6, but much more of a sod to change! If you had a V6 I could change the crank sensor for you pretty much at the side of the road.. swings and roundabouts, you have half as many of a lot of other bits that can go wrong ;)

If you get any other problems, let me know.. you're not a million miles away and I'm free most Saturdays as the other half is at work :y

Now, now, don't fight about it!   ;D  Had a new cambelt and all belts a few months ago, had an oil change about a couple of months ago, local place, don't think they cleaned the breathers though. Just had the AA out they put on diagnostic and said it was crankshaft error message, he turned light off, went round the block and all seems okay again. It was running a bit ropey before that, and last couple of days seemed to not have much wellie when acclerating,  he said maybe air con pump??

Only the AA could link air-con compressor to reduced performance  ;D

Crankshaft sensor on 2.2 is practically bullet proof, what was the full list of codes?

You can't turn the light off, it goes out when the fault is fixed/goes away.

It's more likely its cam sensor issue on a 2.2  :y

I think he may be right on that I had a 2.2 and that had a cam shaft sensor play up and it use to run a bit ruff . clearing the fault  and it would run alright for a day or 2 then come back.

If it takes a fair bit of cranking to start and fire when hot, also signs of cam sensor  :y

Got home okay! This car is brilliant! No more warning lights, running well. Does 40 mile round trip commuting everyday. Took her for a run to Bournemouth at the weekend, 200 miles no problem!  :y will have to sell though as bit expensive to keep commuting with every day  :( any suggestions on how to sell her?

Autotrader is your best bet, eBay is full of scammers and time wasters   :)

Remember that changing the car for a diesel (i'm assuming thats what you are doing as you mention cost) - Takes along time to re-coup the outlay of cash.

I LPG'd my 2.2 Omega, cost around £700. So imagine if instead you spent £700+ on getting a replacement diesel.

LPG basically saves you around 40% + in fuel cost, going from say 30mpg average to an effective 50mpg+

It still takes around 8 to 10,000 miles or so to get that cost back, before you start to save money.

So again assuming you do 40 miles a day, every day, 5 days a week, every month for 12 months, £700 spend won't save you any money. Only after about 13/14th month will you save.

Something to bear in mind  :y

As TB said, auto's really do lower mpg, especially around town. If you are prepared to get clutch foot going, heard people here getting 600 miles from a tank on the DTi's  :)
