Emma bought me 2 seasons of "Life On Mars" on DVD recently. I've been glued to the telly.

This got me thinking (unusual for a Friday afternoon). My first car did about the same fuel consumption as my MV6. The MV6 has just under double the engine capacity, is 2.8 times as powerful, does 0-60 about 5 seconds quicker and has a top speed 51 MPH faster.

IIRC a tank of petrol was about 20 quid and got me 300 miles back then. 7p a mile near as makes no odds.

Now a tank of petrol is about 65 quid and gets me 400 miles, if I'm very lucky. 16p per mile :o

There's progress for you.

I bl*dy hate ATF, it's nasty stuff......

I'm sure it won't be the last time I get a shower with it, though!

There's nothing like having your hair styled with something that smells about as attractive as cat's pee!
The special oil for my Ford manual box is worse. Just as smelly and rank as ATF but almost as thick as EP90 so you try getting it out of your hair  >:(

I've even driven brand new cars that suffer with this, I think it's just "one of those things"
I wonder if a different / revised oil that might help? I've only ever used the right VX one in it though.

I've heard it makes a difference, especially when cold shift quality. Vx seem to have changed the spec. several times. I wonder if that was in response to complaints?

Might be the usual drivel that accompanies the "o" word. Who knows?  :-/

I must admit after one night in the Black Forest in September we chickened out and got a B&B. Camping in Italy was great but a bit of altitude and it was a different story. Hot during the day, 2 degrees at night :o We both had reasonable quality 4 seasons sleeping bags and a duvet on top of that (the luxuries of camping out of the boot of an Omega!) but Emma was shivering so much it woke me up!

Just got a red bill that I paid in the middle of last month. Red bill was dated middle of last month ::)

Still, Machine Mart Christmas catalogue arrived today. Passed on to SWMBO with subtle hints...

Have you noticed that the Def-plum status changes daily.....

Who got the unenviable task of being on "plum detail" then?  :-?

General Discussion Area / Re: 3.2 Injectors
« on: 09 November 2007, 10:33:36 »
The 3.2 throttle body is fly by wire, which means that rather than being controlled by a cable directly from the accelerator pedal it is controlled electronically by a servo motor driven by the ECU. This means you'd need to replace the whole engine management system and wiring loom to the throttle pedal to make it work. Not worth it.

I doubt any of the parts from a 3.2 would improve a 3.0. Injectors may well be the same but if not will just put the calibration of the injection system out. Pouring more fuel into an engine does not give you more power.

A 3.2 engine only has 10 BHP more than a 3.0 so even if you swapped the whole lot you'd barely notice a difference.

Believe me, there is no place on this Earth, that i would prefer to be at Christmas other than Britain

Oh, I couldn't agree more. But that's on December 25th. It's November 8th. Long time to go before I start thinking about it.

I love this time of year, bonfire night is over, christmas is coming.

Can't stand it myself. Miserable weather. Always dark. rather plastic santa claus gnome things dancing away and blurting out sh!te in every shop - already! One day I'll take Sammy Sledgehammer shopping with me and wipe out the lot! It's nowhere near Christmas yet FFS!  >:(

Call me a miserable b'stard but I'd quite like to hibernate until about March, TBH. :(

The other angle to this is that the agency will be hungry for their commission too. They will be just as eager as you to get the deal done now they've sniffed the possibility of a result so if you give them the impression that you're going hell for leather to get another offer they'll be pressing the company to pull their finger out or lose you.

Well, good news that you made the grade. What a stupid way to go about hiring someone! I'd make damn sure you go to as many interviews as possible over the next 2 weeks, make sure the agency knows you're actively pushing for more interviews and not putting your life on hold while they waste 2 weeks. You never know, something better might come along.

It'd serve them right if you got snapped up by someone else in the meanwhile.  >:(

I think I ended up there once. Really odd to start with but after about 4 pints it all started to make sense. Until I went out and started sumbling round the car park! It's in or near Kingswinford IIRC.
