Day 2 at Sky
« on: 22 September 2009, 18:18:25 »

Got a tour of the studios today, because the office i am in is a standard one, could be selling Shoes for all i know, but today i got to see Sky Sports and Sky News being made, was very interesting in the Sky News broadcast. I was expecting to see loads of people with cameras and such, but there were not.

All the cameras are automatic, and can move around the studio on their own  :o

They look a bit like Darleks going around  ;D

The cameras are actually built into the queue screens, news girl looks into that for her words, but the camera is so close behind that glass it focuses on her instead.

Its also sounded by office desks just feet away  :o - Loads of news people going around and loads of desks literally behind where she was speaking, impressive use of sound to only pick up her, i was directly above and they said I could shout my head off and it would not be picked up.

Sky control was good too, ultra cool space, huge space with glass walls with about 500 TV's on the wall in 3 sections, bit like the bridge of the enterprise, with another row of about 200 up top, its where they control and monitor all 800 channels they broadcast. Was interesting to see the different feeds, such as live camera, dish feed, dish receive feed, transmitted to digibox and so on.

Been learning more applications today, so far its a doddle!

And BBC are different how?

Still the same at the end of the day, they only show programs they want to. (or ones they have to when they fail to bid for others)

BBC are at least as bad but different. They have been infiltrated by lefty lentil munching champagne socialist types, very new liebore. They push the agenda that the current government want them to.
Murdoch has a global media empire(in this country its Sky,The sun,News of the world etc)and has the power to all but decide election results  in this country and heavily influence them in others including the U.S.
One individual having that amount of control over the information we recieve subverts democracy in my view and is a very bad thing.Having said all that I currently have a SKY dish on my wall just as most other people do. ::)
