Omega 2002 2.2 DTI Hunting only when warm?
« on: 16 November 2012, 21:41:37 »

Hi im new to this so im abit slow with everything but could really use some help.Ive got an 02 plate Omega 2.2 diesel and its hunting only when warm. When i fire it up in the morning or when its cold its fine and no problems. When its upto temperature or been running for a long period it will start fine and then start hunting and lose the rev limiter and when i rev it,it chucks smoke out.If i leave it to cool it starts and runs fine with no smoke.Ive replaced ECU Temp switch,MAF Sensor and checked inter-cooler pipes. Its driving me crazy and i can only go to work and back with it.Cheers,Rich.

Whip the EGR valve off it and give it a good clean.  :y

Hello and welcome to the Forum.
I know that these engines use the crank sensor to supply a signal via the ecu to the rev COUNTER, and your symptoms of rough running when warm could also point to a failing crank sensor.

Any engine or electronics fault lights on the dash?

Good point, I didn't read that the same as you! Yes cranksensor failure causes loss of rev counter and limp mode.

Did a guide for this:-
