Buying used car and insurance?
« on: 24 May 2011, 23:23:02 »

Hi there,

I'm about to buy a used car and somebody told me that I don't need to buy an insurance straight away and that I have 48 hours to do so and I can drive this car for the next 48 hours...(?)
How does this work?
Can someone confirm?

Thanks

your car needs insurance to be driven on the road. Some companies will do cheap 2nd car cover for a limited time to enable you to what you want to do ie drive your 'new' car home.

So this 48 hour temporary insurance is basically 'dangle berries'?

complete and utter tosh.

if its used on a road, it needs at least 3rd party insurance.

no such thing as a period of grace.  needs it, even if standing still when you part with the dosh.....

It's the OOF naughty words fairy waving her magic wand.

So tempting to do a giant test post, but I won't.   :)
