Whacked the donut bush in the last half inch and reassembled. Was planning on doing the other side but ended up driving down that London to deliver a food parcel to daughter. Return journey of 130 miles on near empty roads reminded me what a lovely old thing the Omega is to drive.
Got out fresh as a daisy with a smile on my face. Just what I needed at the moment.
Glad you got it in, there's another side too though  ;D  :-X
I love driving my Omega ,puts a smile on my face too  :y

It's probably the only car on the fleet still on full pay
all the other vauxhalls are on furlong pay
still taxed ,insured and MOTed but using no fuel  ;D

yes ,I should be using one of the astras for shopping and delivering etc because they use much less fuel  ::)
am I going too
er ...
NO   ;D

SWMBO has been taking the Mazda a couple of miles every few days to get shopping or medication since lockdown started.

It only just managed to turn over this morning so I tucked it up in the garage with a drip feed of electricity to top up its (tiny) battery.

Working days this weekend, so planning on doing the other donut bush Monday or Tues. if it stays dry.
Then need to start thinking about a service, plus cambelt, Aux. belt, remove sump to clean the strainer. It will never need working on again after Ive done that lot...……………………………

Shut up Stemo.

Brought another Omega wheel to work for a refurb. I shall work my way through the four of them by the end of the month.
The futile quest for perfection helps pass the long shifts.

Removed the offside rear door card on the Mondeo and gave the sticky door lock a squirt of WD.  Reassembled and all's good now!  :y

Should have kept my mouth shut. Fitted the other donut bush just now. Was a lot easier than the first and in a lot worse condition. The steel sleeve in the centre was completely detached from the rubber.
When I did the other side I did some cleaning up etc. around the various parts at the rear, including the annual ritual of removing surface rust from the  damper, and giving it a coat of paint, as I wanted to preserve the original self levellers.
When I finished fitting the bush today I noticed some oil on the drive at the other side of the car. Had a look and its running down the outer surface of the damper. Havent looked closely yet, but I think its likely that after cleaning it up this time, the metal has got too thin and its sprung a leak. Had to happen some time I suppose.
Shame, because I wanted to retain the self levelling and keep the old girl original, but finding a decent pair without selling my working kidney is probably unlikely.
Might have to order a pair of B4,s or similar.

Oh dear  :(
it's worth checking you haven't strained or disturbed a brake line too ,which can squirt brake fluid anywhere  :-\
I've never had a shock rust so bad that it leaks, i tend to swap for new @ 100K
but I've not had self leveling suspension since my C reg cav CDi  ;D

Search interweb with the part number... You might get lucky :y

That said, at least you have plod springs on it, so the handling shouldn't suffer. Also Sachs OE shocks are readily available and arguably a better fit than the B4s. Although you may need to get the top mounts as well...  :y
