Just got all the bulbs replaced and all back together.

Now I not only have heat in the car, but all lights working :y

Got quoted £231 for new heater controls fitted by VX main stealer, £36 for full centre console off ebay, bought new bulbs, fitted myself with help from guys on this site/

Not a bad saving, methinks!

Hope you get yours sorted mate ;)

Take it easy

Right, well I give up!  :(
Just had another go, only took ten minutes to get the panel out, but I just can't get my hand in to undo the looms, looks like I'll be doing without until I can find someone with "nimble" hands!

Had my panel out a couple of weeks ago, I now have heat in the car :y

But I noticed one of the bulbs has gone off, got some more bulbs and I am halfway through getting the panel out.
My hands are freezing so I have left it in the garage and will finish off tomorrow.

I found it easier to remove all of the switches, they just pull out, reach in through the radio hole and the 3 wiring blocks pull down and slide off.

2 blocks at the top, unlip and pull off, then the ashtray light, and cigarette lighter connection off and hey presto, whole panel out :y

The more times you do this the easier it gets.

Hope you manage it, isn't it great owing an Omega :-/

But I love the comfort, wafting along in armchair comfort, it will do for me!

Thats correct for the climate panel, 5 off twist in bulbs.

Beware of LED's in the climate panel, two of the bulbs emit light into light pipes which transmit the light to the push button's, this requires light to be emitted from the side of the bulb, something which LEDS don't do very well.

Ah Hah, oh sorry, gone all Alan Partridge there, I have just replaced my centre console as the heater controls were not working, now I have heater controls and am as warm as toast.
However on the climate control push buttons there are no lights?
I have the Temp Lights on, fan speed and the small orage light on the directional button but not the background push button lights.

When you say two of the bulbs emit light into light tubes, do you know which two bulbs ie is it the outside two and if so do you know the number of the bulbs?

Thanks a lot, all of the advice on this site made the removal of the centre console a lot easier, it's a bit fiddly but now I have done it once these second time will be a lot faster.

By the way how hard is it to get your hand in to pull down on the release bar, the back of my hand is bruised to hell >:(

Omega General Help / 1999 2.0 Auto Box
« on: 26 January 2009, 19:16:30 »
Hi

My mig suddenly went into limp home mode tonight, with "Automatic Gearbox"warning in the display :'( Anybody any ideas what it might be? I've no doubt that it is expensive, it's a 1999 with 116 k on the clock, not sure whether to spend any more on it, as it is begining to cost quite a bit now to keep it going.
Got the seat belt tensioner or airbag light on as well at the moment.

Any info would be appreciated.

I am in Hartlepool, any local owners on here with LPG system? Where do you get it serviced?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I also need some rust doing tops of the doors etc >:(

Thanks

Omega General Help / Central Locking
« on: 08 February 2008, 19:35:34 »
Hi All

It's been a while since I posted anything but I still read this board now and again.
I have a 1999 2.0 CDX Dual Fuel, 107000 miles on the clock and I have a problem with the front passenger door lock.

This thing is it won't unlock, the other doors unlock OK but not this one, I can't even pull the button up! or open the door from the inside.

Anyone else had this problem and any ideas how to resolve as I cant see any way of getting the door card off seeing as the door wo't open :-[

Thanks

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2.0 16V omega with a strange problem The indicators don't work and the brake lights don't work either, The hazard indicatorS work fine when switched on. I have checked the fuses they all seem fine, I was wondering about the relays but I don't have a manual and I am not very good on this sort of thing, so any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Jacko

Is your high level brake light working?

I have the same car a 1999, I have had loads of problems with brakelights going off, and the bulb and fuses all seemed OK. It is a problem that other owners have reported here on this site.

A guy who does my servicing now and again, Tech 2 etc sorted an earth wire in the light holders and I haven't had a problem since, touch wood!! :-/

It seems like a quirk that Omegas seem to have, it's all part of the pleasure of Omega ownership!

As you will see from recent messages  on herere 2.2's sounding noisy, don't know about yours 2.0 but mine sounds great when cold, but a bit rattlely when warm ::)

Hope you get your lights sorted :y

Omega General Help / Re: Facelift Dash Removal

Hi Guys

I want to remove the wood dash part on the facelift. I have read the how to, but can anyone tell me. Do you need to remove all the swithes? Before pulling out the second section, after the radio. If your not doing anything with them.

I have a few blanks under the alarm switch that dont want to move and I only want to fit a no holes dash mount, between the wood and soft padding.

Any advice would be appreciated. :y

Hi
Try this link

In the last few weeks I have had my console out twice, I got a new console off ebay and fitted it with help from this site. I now have all lights fixed and have heat in the car.

If you want to take it all of the way out you need to remove the switches and pull down the connector blocks on the back, reach through the radio aperture.
Remove the top two blocks and the console will hang right out, remove and replace bulbs, reverse what you did and hey presto back in.

It does get easier.

Hope you manage it.

Omega General Help / Re: Heating direction dial

I have no direction flow to the hot or cold air in the cabin using the rotary dial. I believe it is down to a loose vacuum pipe from what I have read. Is it fixable by removing the centre console and if not how do I go about getting some hot air to my cold feet :)

I know exactly what you mean I was over a month with no heat in the car. My Omega is a 99 CDX with the full electric climate control and it was the directional buttons that were goosed!

I got replacement of Ebay from a 98 car. This owners forum has an excellent "how to" section and I removed the whole centre console and replaced with the new one and hey presto toasty feet!!

Not sure about whether your rotary dial will be electric or manual opening of the vents?

Hope you get it sorted though, 'cos I know how cold your feet get!

Omega General Help / 1999 2.0 cdx Front Brake Disc size?
« on: 02 December 2006, 20:13:57 »
Hi

To save me going out into the garage, can anyone tell me what size the front discs are on my car :question

On looking on flea bay they are two sizes 286mm and 296mm, think mine would be the latter :question

Been looking at spark plugs as well, some places selling (genuine) Vauxhall plugs for about£15 inc postage, also anybody tried the Bosch 4 electrode ones (FR91X)'s

Just after a bit of feedback, I'm very new to ebay, got a good climate control panel from ther mind.

take it easy guys
