CDR 2005
« on: 21 October 2009, 19:25:28 »

Hi,

any help appreciated.

Just bought this car (2.2CD auto) and have found that the CD won't eject. It plays fine and when the eject button is pressed it makes all the noises as if it's trying to eject. I can see the disc being lifted as if to come out of the slot but there seems to be no forward motion to spit it out.

Anyone got a magic cure or do I need to strip it down? Snag is I don't have the code for it  :(

Thanks,  Steve

Don`t attempt to strip it down. Send a PM to Dave DND http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=4E6B7C6F554E444E0A0
He can fix them AND de-code them for you

Send it over and I can take a look for you

But as RobG said, don`t strip it down, as you will only make the repair more expensive !!

I was getting fed up of having Boxcar Willie as the only CD I could play in my car due to the darned thing refusing to eject and was about to pull the unit and send it off to Dave DND.
I had another look into the slot and saw what I thought to be 2 CDs in there. I suppose what I did next is not to be recommended but I put 2 butter knives into the slot, one above the CD(s) and one below, squeezed them together and hit the eject whilst gently pulling. Sure enough, out came 2 CDs. The previous owner not only had a dubious taste in music but a determination to stuff 2 CDs into a space designed for one. >:(

The CD player appears to be working fine now but I'm sure Dave won't approve of my rather brutal approach.  :-[

You were lucky !

I have seen others that have tried that approach, and most of them manage to shear off one of the plastic pins on the upper chassis leading to a three figure repair bill !!

Certainly would not advise that approach again to anyone else following this.

Dave is absolutely right here, I shouldn't have used such a brutal method and I wasn't advocating that anyone else should either.  :-[I just got a bit pee'd off with it and had a go. :P

I was indeed lucky but I guess I would have accepted the consequences if it had gone belly-up.

Cheers!
