Cars for Sale & wanted / For Sale: 2.5 V6 auto CDX 2000
« on: 29 March 2013, 10:01:25 »
It is with regret that I am putting my car up for sale.  :'(
After four years of ownership it is time to move on as my circumstances have changed.
We have bought another dog and I fancy a change. So, a genuine reason for sale :y

The car is a 2000 Vauxhall Omega 2.5 automatic CDX in Krypton Green.
It has 148,000 genuine miles on the clock.
It has been serviced by myself following the OOF guides and has its last oil change
in January using genuine GM parts. This included a breather cleansing.
The cam cover gaskets are all good showing no signs of leaking.
The car has no cooling issued and gets to temp after about four miles
The tyres have good tread on them, including the spare.
The discs and pads are all good and working.
It is in need of a cam belt change. Which I have bought, but not fitted.
The car has poly bushed wishbones, new rear doughnuts, a good battery, a good Eternal exhaust system,
an AR35 gearbox with new thrust washer (this copes with 350Nm of torque as opposed to the standard
AR25 which only handles 250Nm of torque)

On starting the car self checks and all dash lights go off in order.
All of the CDX equipment is present and working.
It also has fitted, a working elite rear blind.
A Panasonic USB mp3/CD/radio is fitted but I would like to keep this (present from SWMBO ::) )
Everything works as it should.
It has the usual age related marks but no damage. However, the rear arches are beginning to bubble.
I have a huge amount of paper work (receipts etc) from both myself and previous owners

The car is also fitted with a Witter tow bar and this is complemented with twin electrics.
In addition it has coil spring assisters not the rubber doughnut type.
It has only been used for light caravan towing (995Kg MTPLM)
The car is due an MOT in July 2013 and is due RFL in May 2013

I have been very happy with this car and it has never let me down. (Apart from the old gear box
which I swapped out for the AR35 ;D ;D ). But it is time to let her go :'(

Price: £500 or a sensible offer

Does anyone have any experience of these?

If so, could you give me some feedback. Please keep it constructive, not just good/bad buy/avoid or derisory.

What should we look for apart the obvious?

Thanks in advance folks  :y :y

General Car Chat / Corsa B drums and shoes
« on: 11 February 2013, 15:12:46 »
Bought some new ones from BPB, fitted them and am getting vibration at the peddle and the drums do not turn freely.
This is after correct adjustments have been made. Could the drum be out of true or am I missing something?

General Car Chat / Self Healing . . .
« on: 29 January 2013, 16:29:13 »
Last year about August time I had major problems with coolant escaping from the car. Repaired it with a new HBV and some related hoses.

Ever since then the engine has not got up to temp regardless of bleeding and burping it. Instead has hovered around the 75/80° mark unless standing in traffic for 15 minutes.

Until the snow came ...............

Suddenly, during a minus five cold spell it came up to temp within four miles. It continues to do so. Today, after the school run it even rose to 90° and put the fans on.

The car appears to have fixed itself. Should I rejoice in the powers of Christine or is it waiting to bite me on the arse  ;D

General Discussion Area / Email Problems....
« on: 06 December 2012, 22:24:18 »
Now, here's an exciting one for you  ::)
I have a problem with my email. Over the last five days I have received about 1600 emails. Ordinarily, I receive about 5 day.
They are dropping into my in box titled "Delivery Status Notification (Delay)" or "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)".
However, I did not send them to start with and the email addresses I have never heard of.

Would any body be willing to look at a a couple of them and advise me on what to do?

General Discussion Area / Cordless Drill
« on: 03 December 2012, 09:13:07 »
Since my old drill whirred its last a while ago I have missed it and have now got sick of getting the cables out for the most minimal job.
SWMBO wants to buy me a new cordless drill for Christmas to stop me moaning  :)

I have been drawn to this one from B & Q

http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/power-tools/drilling-screwdriving/drilling/-brand-Ryobi/Ryobi-One-Plus-Combi-Hammer-Drill-with-2xBatteries-12408577?view-all=brand

It won't be used all day every day but just for light DIY. What do you chaps think? Any alternatives you might recommend?  :y

General Discussion Area / Admiral Multicar Insurance
« on: 07 November 2012, 11:54:11 »
Just been chatting to Admiral and they recommend their multicar policy.

We run two cars, A 1997 Corsa and the 2000 Omega
Individually, the cars insurance costs are as follows:
The Corsa £250 fully comp for the year
The Omega £366 fully comp for the year

With multicar the costs are:

The Corsa £166 fully comp for the year
The Omega £200 fully comp for the year

Both policies are identical

This seems a very good deal to me.
Any comments, thoughts or experiences with this multicar deal I would be keen to read  :y

General Discussion Area / Decorating help
« on: 18 August 2012, 18:16:08 »

An elderly friend called me today and asked me to look at this (see picture below)
All interior walls are brick and the DPC is intact
This is on one side of an interior wall. The other side (the lounge) is clear.
The wall going off to the right is the airing cupboard wall. This wall is affected at skirting board level but not as badly.
She also has a similar patch about 50cm long on a bedroom interior wall at exactly the position.
The lady had the wall repainted last year but the problem has resurfaced.

Any ideas?
What is it and how to prevent it reoccurring?  :-\
