Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Taillight bulb warning

I used to have problems with my brake light warning keep coming on ,  I have now switched to Bosch lamps and have not had any problems with them since.
As already mentioned lamp quaility does seem to play a big part in the system

I had a problem with my Omegas rear lights cause i bought cheapies from Halfuds.Swopped them over with some Vauxhall ones, they even fitted them for me and no problems since.Only charged me £1.45 as well. :)

Just to confuse you all......

I also had the same issue this weekend (started with a lamp going out) bought a pair of Bosch lamps from Halfords to replace the duff bulb which then caused the headlight/tail lamp message - when back to Halfords and bought their own brand - these now work a treat.

Looks like each mega has it's own preference!

Omega General Help / Autobox update/Cruise enable
« on: 07 April 2009, 21:45:03 »
Hi Guys/Girls,

I would like to get the autobox update and cruise enabled, can Vauxhall stealers do both of these?

Does anyone on here know where I can get them both done in Scotland?

Would rather pay someone on here than the stealers.

Cheers
Alan

Disconnecting battery is unlikely to 'reset' or 'clear' the gearbox ecu.

But if you want to try, disconnect battery within 15s of ign going off.

Do you not think it's worth it?

I'll admit I know nothing about cars, what would be next - new gearbox?

Would a gearbox update help??  :-/

Hi all,

Hope you don't mind me fetching you're thread back BC?

I have the same problem changing from 1st to 2nd although not all the time, have had the ATF changed a few weeks back (fingers crossed he used the right fluid)

Any how next on my list is to try the reset with the leads but any time in the past my battery was disconnected the car alarm went nuts, how do I stop it doing that?

If that procedure then fails to work, what options do I have left?

Cheers all

Thanks for the offer, we ended up leaving later than expected and didn't get into London until 00:30 am.

The road works coming down were not fun!

Might need to rant about that later.

Cheers anyway.

I can be such a muppet some times!!

I didn't notice TheBoy asking about the clutch.

I should have mentioned, it's an auto box, so would think it does not need the clutch switch...DOH!!!

From what I gathered from "How to: Cruise Control (DBW cars only)" don't know what the DBW means, I thought all I needed was the stalk.

It's a 51 plate 2.6 cd if that makes a difference?

That does sound tempting, but I'll be coming down the M6, probably passing around 9pm.

Shame though, could do with chip updating too, or what the update is that sorts out the auto gear shifting.

Maybe some other time  :y

Omega General Help / Tech2 Scotland

Evening all,

Does anyone know who else in the Central belt (apart from a Vauxhall dealer) will have a Tech2 unit so I can activate my cruise control (already fitted the stalk).

The nice vauxhall dealer in Falkirk wants £76 to do it.

Would like it done by Friday afternoon as I'm driving to London and would like to put my feet up on the drive.

Thanks in advance

Alan

Ok, here's where I prove I'm a muppet.

I followed the details on the thread below " Fitting Cruise (Facelift Only) ", I have a 2.6 CD Auto (51 plate)

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152953478

From what I read all I had to do was buy the stalk (got it from LMFVauxhall as the stock it) fit it and get nice mechanic to Tech2 it.

Am I missing anything out?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Cruise Control Again! (slighty different though)
« on: 06 September 2007, 18:23:20 »
Hi all,

Fitted the stalk last night, was really easy (even for a mechanical muppet like me), phoned the garage and they can't help until sometime next week :(

Not 100% sure they have Tech2 or not, does it have to be Tech2 or do other programs do it too?

Also, is there anyone near Glasgow that can do it?  ;) (for a donation of corse)

3rd option would be to go to Vauxhall main dealer (they always ask for £50 just to look at it) how would I talk them into it?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Re: Suspension

as far as i am aware they were the same across the range, expect the MV6 which had different shocks. (springs are same)

Have you checked the shocks? Maybe a broken spring?

Well thanks for the reply - pretty much as I expected on them being the same suspension units, I shamefully mention that I bought it from a dealer (big main ford dealer in Edinburgh).

It was MOT'd and serviced the day before I got it and also have 3 months warrenty on it as well -so dont think anything is broken, in those regards.

Will update all when the new wheels go on - see what happens then.

Thanks all

Alan

Omega General Help / Suspension

Hi all,

Just wanted to know if the suspension on the Elite (Facelift) was any different from the suspension on the CD (Facelift)

My Elite used to handle quite well (I though) - but the CD drives like jelly on wheels when going round corners.

I'm in the middle of trying to choose some new 18" rim that will look nice which may help the jelly issue (i.e 16" rims at the moment = hi tire wall), but just wondered if I'd need to look at the suspension too?

Thanks in advance

Alan
