Pet Insurance

Time to renew the dogs insurance, and am looking for suggestions as to what to look for in terms of the best options vs cost.
Favourite at the moment is Asda at nearly £20 monthly for maximum benefit cover of £6000 per condition

Be a tad careful with that one .. if its the same one I looked at it will give you £6000 per condition in one year .. that condition then becomes "pre-existing" in all future years and is not covered ....

I have "Petplan Classic Cover For Life"  £4000 a year BUT resets each year and the same condition is still covered for the life of the dog £29 a month.

Recent experience is they are fantastic as well .... I hadn't even paid the first premium - although I had the Insurance certificate - when he needed an op on his shoulder .. £325 bill of which I paid £90 ... and they paid the rest direct to the vet without any hassle whatsoever   :y :y

We were using Tesco insurance, with good service, but haggled at renewal in late 2012. 2013 renewal was doubled, but was expected... service had been faultless, with several claims, all settled swiftly :y

Renewed with John Lewis, better cover, fewer limitations and still 60% of what our Tescos renewal was :y have yet to make a claim, fortunately, so can't comment on the service, but being John Lewis... :-\

Always been with Petplan (over 30 years ) never had any problems they are not the cheapest, but they are the best , there was an article in one of the papers a couple of years ago & they were right at the top.

I must agree with the comments for Pet Plan.
They have been brilliant for us with Amber......
About £5000 of claims and still £19  per month.

Till it comes to it..... ::) ::)

Dog was insured for 10 years, now 12 I gave up, paid a fortune for nothing, minor ailments we still had to pay.

The cat was not insured, I always said I would just get it put down... ::) ::) till you end up at the emergency vet, with Miss Vamps, and suddenly the words 'put him out of his misery' turn into 'do what you have to' twice!!!!!!!! friggin cat, cost me a fortune :-X dog is 12 cat is 11, dog keeps having moments but just when we think the end is coming she gets a new lease of life. Bless her she is on borrowed time..... :( :(
