Black 3.0i MV6
« on: 19 June 2008, 13:42:55 »

post copied straight from elsewhere lol

The civic has been alright, but with the baby and everything, the unpracticallity of having it was startin to get on my tits (so its up for sale!)... so whilst on my ebay travels i spotted somethin i wanted before hand... a family car obviously

I used to have a 2.5 V6 CD... but always fancied a black MV6.. so seein as this one came up and wasnt too far away (fife), i thought opps it why not!

Nice enough price, black mini facelift omega 3.0 MV6, with 2 previous owners (last one only got it in october), and a FVSH.  8)

First up is MOT'n it. Also have some plans for it, ill paint those wheels black until i have cash for a set i like (im picky  ), going for the black metal grill and prob talk someone into gettin the windows tinted for my birthday

Anyway... pics!

jimbob - nah, not my 106 lol belongs to the mrs, usually has red wheels on it too! been doing the bearings on the rear beam for the show this weekend. civic is mine though... and goin up for sale next week

i used to have an AX myself (well, ive had 6 or 7 lol), was a white pre-cat gti with 37k on the clock, stripped it out and fitted a 106 gti engine... van smashed into back of me 2 weeks later and wrote it off :(

skruntie - cheers mucker. not sure what model or anythin the wheels are but theyre made by RVS, im not a huge fan of them tbh lol can never make up my mind what wheels i like on omegas... id love LC wheels tho!

Doesnt look like they make them anymore.

These are nice, not sure if they would look nice on a Miggy.

Just pain the spokes Satin black - leave the outer rims silver - they look dead cool like that.

Thought id give this a wee update!

My rocker gaskets started leaking and cam belt was due so the omega was taken off the road - that was back in january!  I've been driving the leon since.. but thats up for sale soon, so its time to get the MV6 back on the road!

Just before it came off the road i started fitting the optional extras it didnt have... namely rear sun blind and cruise control, it even had the vauxhall trafficmaster system fitted lol

Its lay pretty untouched since january. I took apart one of the headlights to find it was broken, so its sat like this all that time...

Rear arches are gettin a bit rusty too...

Decided its time to get my arse in gear!... got a set of facelift door trims that ive primered ready for paint, also dechromed the bumpers and on the lookout for new headlight. Coilovers will be getting fitted and car dropped, and wheels resprayed for the time being... ill eventually split the headlight and paint the insides black too!... and the engine bits will get done too obviously, with a bit of spraying/polishing work

Then its MOT time as it runs out next week!

Cant wait to have it back, getting bored of the LCR  ;D

Knew someone would pick up that i forgot to say that  ;D

Arches will be one of the first jobs done, luckily theres still a bit of solid metal under the rust, so as a temporary measure itll be getting rubbed down, kurust and zinc primer before a quick spray of paint - will get the bodywork all top notch at a later date, my uncles a spraypainter so covered on that ground  :y

Macduff - im not really a fan of the wheels either, never have been, they were on it when i got it... no cash to buy different ones so theyll have to do lol

PHEW! TBH I thought you might have been one of these guys that will mod up their motor like mad, but never somuch as give it an oil change! Especially with them alloys!  :D No probs feller, nice to see you're doing it in the right order! And may I say the tweaks you've done to it up to now are pretty classy, like the smoked indicators, as they practically disappear into the bodywork. Very nice.

Black is the colour!

finally got the other front strut on today after the correct nuts arriving, and also fitted the front spacers (as the 235 tyres are fouling the coilover), they look sweet!... brings the tyres out to the edge of the arch and makes the stance look alot better, i can finally get the strut adjusted so that the wheel isnt hanging out at the top now too  ;D

droplinks are about to be cut down and adjusted (couldnt be arsed paying £90 or so for the lowered ones when i can adjust mine for free!), paint is also here to finish the door strips and arches too

Shortened my droplinks and fitted the spacers on the front today - heres the results:

Before...

After...

Before...

After...

Its not too noticeable in the pics tbh, but gives the car a nicer stance and makes it look better (although the original reason for getting them is becuase the tyres are fouling the strut  )

Spent the past few days doing work on the car... got cambelt changed, cam cover gaskets changed, changed spark plugs and oil, then today i fitted the facelift bumpstrips and gave the rear arches a bit of paint.. all ive got left to do now is give it a quick wash for MOT on tuesday and cross my fingers  :y

Quick pic of the bumpstrips just fitted (hadnt sprayed the arch yet)

Shortened my droplinks and fitted the spacers on the front today - heres the results:

Its not too noticeable in the pics tbh, but gives the car a nicer stance and makes it look better (although the original reason for getting them is becuase the tyres are fouling the strut  )

How big of a spacer are you running?

Just picked it up - passed with a few advisories  :y

Theyre mostly brake related as it hasnt moved since january lol might get the discs skimmes to tidy them up, and theres some corrosion starting on rear brake pipes, and slight play in a front wheel bearing, all in all its not too bad :D

By 20mm do you mean 20mm/side or is that 10mm/side for total of 20?

How did the MOT go? I bought the Beastie from a certain someone in Scotland, well worth the trip & the stovies for lunch. Slightly lowered on the back with Irmscher red springs, low enough for me.
WASH, POLISH it & post more pics! :y

Went ok really... mostly brake items for the advisories - front discs need cleaned up, front brakes are slightly unbalanced atm too, little play in o/s/f wheel bearing, rear brake pipes showing a little corrosion... cant expect any better from not moving for 9 months tbh lol

Going to pull brakes apart tomorrow and flatten the pads, tidy up the discs and free off the rears as theyre still binding - ive also got new handbrake shoes that i might chuck on whilst im at it

Feels good to be driving it again  8-) just waiting on the last of the oil burnin off the exhaust and it should be alot quieter once those brakes are sorted lol
