To be honest with you Granger, your 53,000 mile, 2002 Omega CDX has probably seen better days and is now not worth much at all.

If it's of interest, I'll take it off your hands for less than you'd have to pay the scrap dealer.  


Seriously, welcome to the best forum on the web. I hope you get it fixed and that, at worst, you can go to the garage with more knowledge than before you came on here.

Ford patented the quick clear system back in the late 80s when they developed it so it is only found on Ford or makes own by Ford, e.g. Jaguar. I never found the wires a distraction at night and I have owned a few Fords. I would own one now if they made a 3.0 automatic but sadly they dont. I like the Omega, but having to scrap the windscreen in the mornings is so annoying and frustrating.

No need to scrap it. Just clear the ice off and it will be as good as new.

Right call me daft , but I just bought one of these, just in case for the future, but for the life of me can't work out how these are supposed to work in terms of releasing the clips, the remote bit moves in the opposite direction when pulled not doing nothing to the actual pliers?

Erm, I would hazard a guess that the 'pliers' are supposed to move the remote bit, not vice versa.

Hi

I have an original radio CCRT 2008, ok I try to use an RDS station and I hope it will fix the problem....
I couldn' t adjust with the buttons (my previous car was an Opel Astra G and there was no problemk with the time adjustment, I've used the buttons, but now it 's not work.
I try this RDS station thing....I search  a station and will it syncronize itself automatically? How many time is this?

Just a few minutes until the station transmits the time signal.

If you tune the radio to a RDS station, the display should update automatically.

I expect I'll get the same in another few months time it seems that anything you do with these damn cars the problems always come back (the design for these cars should have stayed on the drawing board), be glad to see the back of this damn car , once I've saved up enough for something decent!!

It has been suggested several times on here that Vx exhausts are good value because of their longevity. I won't argue with that.

The cost of the exhaust system for the 2.2 is high, i.e. £several hundred, and it may be worth investigating having a stainless system made up if you intend to keep the car for a long time.

The saloon and estate exhausts are a different shape and size. Other than that they are identical.

Indeed...

2000-2001 facelifts - boot release button only works with key removed from ignition, and doors unlocked.

2002-2003 facelifts - boot release button works with engine running, but requires a (very) long press before it operates.

The earlier models can be modified to operate without removing the key from ignition - see the Maintenance Guides section.

The answer to my prayers for a boot I can open with the engine running ! Off to the maintenace guides now to do it. OOF saves the day again !

Be aware, if you do the mod in the maintenance section, the interior lights will not switch off on the switch. You will have to wait for the time delay to switch them off for you. This was too much for me to bear and I put everything back the way it was.

1st thing... went around roundabout and it went. Was getting a tad lumpy on changes as well, so am definately erring on the side of caution and thinking it's the levels.

@theBoy: It did around 10 maybe 20 yards or so with it slipping. Had to do that so I wasn't on roundabout....think that will have killed it?? It still "clunks" when I put it into gear, just doesn't go anywhere.

After reading a bit I understand it's best to top up the oil when the oil is warm.... hows that going to happen if I can't take the car for a drive to warm it up?? Would it be best to top up the oil as best as possible.... take it for a drive(assuming the gearbox isn't a goner) and then re-top up?

As for filter box etc.... any links on removal/replacing?
