Childseat sensor location
« on: 26 November 2010, 12:38:59 »

Can anyone tell me how to locate childseat sensor on 2001 fl omega?? I conected "My Naff Code Reader" and it shows this sensor malfunction, so i'm planing to find it and try to clean it first, and if that doesn't help i'll have to replace it. I've been looking under passenger seat, but there are also wires of electric seat, heater, belt tensoners, so i am not sure what to unplug. . .

In Serbia you must drive kids under 7 years in back, so i don't need this. Is it posible to disable this sensor in any way, so it doesn' apear on dash as foult. ..

Page 90/93 ..... Please read the manual  ::)
The transponder is there to turn off the passenger side airbag when it detects a GM kiddies seat.  :y  :y

Maybe a Tech2 session could disable the option?

What is the code you are getting from the "My Naff Code Reader"?

My Elite has one apparently.

To disable, I have a feeling you have to change the SRS ECU. Unless its intelligent enough to see its unplugged?  We haven't got many Omegas in UK with this option.  I believe the plug is the large multiway yellow connector.

I certainly wouldn't trust "My Naff Code Reader" on safety based ECUs for any more than code reading and clearing.

If it's fitted it flashes the child seat lamp in the centre of the centre lamp when you turn the ignition on.

Indeed it does. Can't help on location, but don't use a non vx child seat in the front due to danger of death if the air bags go off! There are stickers all over the pas side to warn of it are there not?

Yes, there are. And thisl light flashes. I remove foult code with "My Naff Code Reader", but as soon as someone sit it goes on again. Childseat is no problem, cause i have got no kids ( yet), and anyway here you must drive kids on the back. .  Looks like I'll have to change passanger seat just to shut this light down. . . . :(
