Wow  :o
I guess by reporting the breakdown "on-line" ,rather than by phone call ,the initial break down was wrongly considered "low priority" ,car needs recovering but the first contact didn't even consider that people needed ongoing transport  :-\ and no one bothered to escalate the response ,or read any previous info on yhe system during subsequent contact ,
probably minimum wage call center knob jockeys who DGAF as long as they get their 15 minute break on time ,which is hampered by customers actually expecting them to do their job  :P
what an utter cluster****  of lazy and incompetent ****s
as of enterprise ,surely they can check you have a licence online and don't need to phisically look at a hard copy  :-\

I was with the RAC once years ago.  ::)

I had to call them out twice, once on a twisty country road between Henley and Reading where I ground to a halt on a sharp bend at dusk, couldn't get off the road and they left me there for three hours, and second when I had a cam belt go in Bristol and they told me it would be about 6 hours. I told them not to bother, recruited some passing lads to push it into a parking spot and walked home.

Never even briefly considered signing up with them again.

Sadly, this is a fairly typical example of dealing with organisations in the UK these days.
By far the worst ime is the GHS (aka NHS) many experiences over the last 20 years, up to and including this week, give me the impression that they make the RAC look like the embodiment of a competent and caring outfit.
Its just as well they arent actually dealing with things that are really important !  ::)

Unbelievable 👀 that’s terrible you need compensation for that episode surely?  I’m with RAC and have had good service from them over the last twenty years but it’s as usual I guess a postcode lottery. If they don’t compensate you that would be very bad customer relations but, do they give F@ck??? Even if they do I’m sure you would have preferred just getting what you paid them for.

When we took the caravan away earlier this year I got chatting to a chap who used to work for the RAC and he told me that he'd resigned after they were taken over, wish I could remember what he'd said but he reckoned it was very swiftly going down the pan under the new ownership, after the episode TB has had he was certainly right. Think all this took place some years ago but the ex employee I spoke with seemed extremely bitter towards them.

I've been with the RAC for 2 years.

Last year £99. This year £158.

So following a conversation with a nice RAC woman we agreed on....

Roadside rescue
Recovery
At home
Onward travel
15 months cover instead of 12.

For exactly £100. I'm pleased enough with that.

If it turns out they are total crap I may revise my opinion. :)

One year of free cover at the very least.

Sounds exactly like the deal I got from them for the past 2 x 15 months.

In that timeframe, I have called them twice, and both times they have been appalling.

Sadly, this is a fairly typical example of dealing with organisations in the UK these days.
It struck me as very much a case of "I've passed that to another department, thus no long my problem", with nobody actually checking if that other department is picking it up, or even still in existence.

Had I not been constantly calling them, I suspect I would still be sat by the road.  Sadly, its a case of having to make a nuisance of yourself.

Yep....I imagine it is part of their script.

I know many people though who can't be arsed to even try, and pay more than they need. Lazy bastards with more money than sense.

As might I, although they are quite a bit more expensive.

Been with the AA for decades.  Had to use them a few times.  Longest time I waited was 50 minutes. Shortest time 15 minutes.  Great service every time, including with a relay from Manchester to Southam, Warkwichshire.

Yes I pay £18 per month for them, but that is everything they offer included in the full package. You have to pay for quality! 8) 8) ;)
