I had a tailor made suit done for me in Saville Row, Bangkok in 2008. Cost about £100 and it's still going strong for weddings and funerals!  :y

More funerals these days though....  :-\

.

One a month for the last four months, & just heard that our old neighbour who we bought the Subaru from passed away yesterday, definitely a sign of getting older more funerals than weddings.

My dad has gone through that funeral phase. He is 97. Doesn’t stop him and  his same age neighbour trawling the deaths page eachThursday.

The only suit I now possess is hanging in the spare bedroom at dads.

Funerals in Spain are all about people and not what you wear and usually happen with 48 hours.

Yup, about 5 years ago, I went for a black suit, as it covers all occasions.  Been a couple of years since I went to a wedding or christening though!

FUN-erals are more fun than they used to be when I was a nipper.

The last one I went to the deceased (age 51) had chosen the song Mr Blue Sky by ELO to see him out.

The church was 'rockin'as we all sang along followed by a monumental piss up. ;D

My brother in law's funeral was on the 1st of February, it's the best I've ever attended he had a blue grass band & was a brilliant banjo player, after the funeral the wake was fantastic big do at a Surrey golf club and blue grass music from some of his band what a way to go out a truly loved & respected man. Rest in peace Ray .

There's still a chance the hearse will break down on the way to the crematorium. Although with your reputation, a burial might be safer....

My cousin died last summer aged 56. He was born with a hole in his heart and when he was 18 had a heart and lung transplant and at the time they reckoned he'd get another 10 years, but ended up with nearly 40.  :y

It was a big funeral and the wake after was a huge piss up where they even put on a disco. The youngsters especially got absolutely hammered!  ;D

A good send off.  :)  RIP Dave.

I've got to admit that a "huge piss up" is definitely the way to go my daughter remarked at her uncles funeral recently that it was more enjoyable than most wedding receptions she's been to. 👍

Mr Blue Sky by ELO to see him out.
Funnily enough, that was the exit music at bro's funeral.  Followed by a free bar.  Fair to say, my remaining brothers and I saw big Bro off in the manor he would have approved of :y

Ive never seen the point in funerals. My family have been instructed not to bother with one when I fall off my perch.
Send the carcass to be burnt, and if they want to they can have the shes returned to scatter them somewhere, although I dont really see the point in that either.
All silly, pointless and expensive tradition imo.

I worked with a fella 20 years ago who borrowed £15k from our boss so he could give his Mum a proper East End type send off with horses and carriage and a bloke walking in front.  :-\

I wondered what his Mum would have thought about him getting into that sort of debt for that, when he had three little kids to feed.  ::)

Always remember my Mother arguing with the undertaker about getting my Dad to the crematorium , she was furious that they wouldn't take him in a van rather than a hearse  :o

I'm guessing its to allow closure, or whatever the wankword is for the weak minded.

But a celebration after the event, irrespective of whether or not there is a "funeral", is has good a reason as any for family and friends to have a proper get together :y
