Just fitted a rear blind and shelf to my 2001 CDX, fitted new switch, wired old plug wiring to new but when pressing the switch I can hear a clicking noise from the blind area and nothing happens :-/
Any Ideas? :(
Just going to get swmbo to press button while I help the blind up by hand............
-
That didn't work...........at a loss now............don't tell me I've got to take the shelf out again >:(
-
Right...I've now removed shelf again (less than 10mins now I'm used to it) ::)
I've removed the blind from the shelf and slid the pcb out of the black plastic box (controller I assume) and when the switch is pressed the relays are just clicking :-/
Pics below of pcb and complete blind, does it look ok, are the arms the right shape and in the correct position, does the pcb look ok?
I did notice that the heads both on the control box mounting screw and the three mounting screws which hold the plate to the blind have been attacked with a very ill fitting screw driver.........someone has been dismantling it in the past :(

Will the blind rise & fall if you turn the end of the motor shaft - the little bit sticking out at the end? That'll prove the mechanism one way or t'other.
-
Cheers Andy, quick update.....................
I've proved the motor and mechanism are working by powering the motor direct with 12v and it rises and falls smoothly.
It is only when connected via the controller that the problem arises and causes the relays to click :-/

The PCB does look like it's seen better days. :(

Mine does the same. When i press the button the i rear the relays at the back clicking but nowt happens :(
-
what about replacing the control unit with a known good unit?
should be a straight swap

i fixed mine :DDDD
as i was driving today i said to my friend "i must try fix the blind today" then i pressed the button and it came up ^.^ havent done anything to it, it just worked. With it up i sprayed the runners with silicone lubeication spray. Hopfully it'll be all good now :)

Mine's working fine now, had to replace the control unit :y

I suspect you will have issues with yours again as the arm on the right side in the picture is bent and needs straightening.
Seen this happen on a few following postage (and this is no fault of the packaging) and appears to be due to the awful way the postal lot treat them
What happens when this occurs is that the actuating cam goes over centre and the motor cant get it back.
-
What would be the best stuff to lubricate the rear blind. Mine works ok but is jerky. Dont know if there all like this. Would wd 40 be ok or silicone or a ptfe spray if you can get one.

I wondered whether it should be like that, I might try and straighten it out...
Can't blame postie this time as it was personally delivered in the boot of another members Omega

Easy enough to straighten.
Remove the torx screw from the spindle and the clips from the actuator end and you can take arm assembly off and get it in a vice....gently straighten it bit by bit and keep moving it along in the vice a mm or so.
-
And how do I know this.....I had one (the wrong colour) from markie Mark adn it was perfect.....I got one in the right colour and it was bent and kept jamming....
-
Ow yes, when its straightened, slacken the three main mechanism torx screws off and re-position the motor to get it to actuate correctly :y

Cheers Mark, another job to do before next Spring/Summer
How do they get bent do you think? :-/

I suspect when they are removed/fitted.
Easy to catch them on say a bose speaker or similar.

I used a silocone spray that i found in halfords. Also use it to lubricate the window runners as some of them wouldnt shut properly.
-
my rear blind goes up great but when it comes to bringing it down it takes a few attemps as the 1 side seems to get stuck so i have to keep pressing the button to send the blind up and own till it finaly works right and comes down
bit anoying

Lubricate teh runners in the top cover where the arms runs.

I had this too - asked garage to have a look, after I fiddled with it. They asked what there was to fix!? It just started working -then it rattled and stopped that after a while - easy huh!
-
After commenting on this thread I'd thought I'd try mine - its stopped!
How did you get the blind out in 15 minutes?!

Believe me Steve, when you have taken the shelf out and replaced it 3 or 4 times over the course of a weekend, you can do it in 10mins with your eyes shut :y ;D

Are there any link or guides to removing it or even accessing it? I couldn't even see every well - peering through the back window or sqeezing my head over the rear shelf. I never did remove it - it seems that a lot of trim, part of rear seats etc have to be removed - I felt it would become a misssion and I'd risk damaging something else.

If I have the switch on the dash, (96 3.0 Elite) will this definately mean I have the blind?
I get no clicks or anything when I press the button and looking on th rear shelf cant see exactly what is supposed to happen. There is a beige(ish) plastic cover, does this bit raise up or does the blind come from under it?

You should have the blind on the Elite, should be a solid plastic panel in front of the vent.
That is the top of the blind, get someone to push the button and try and gently help it up by hand as it may be seized due to lack of use.
-
Right so the big bit of plastic actually lifts out. Will give it a go when I can get missus to press the switch for me. Wasn't sure if the blind came out from under the cover or what and so far everything I have looked in the Haynes for has not een there. Cheers again ;)

What looks wrong with those circuit boards?
